Persona 5 VS Xenoblade 2

Two absolute behemoths in the JRPG field. But it seems like the common consensus is that Persona 5 is more preferable. So... does Any Forums prefer Persona 5 or Xenoblade 2?

Persona 5

>resetera
Nigger please

>shit or shit
I pick neither.

P5 may have its issues, but XC2 is just fucking dog shit

>But it seems like the common consensus
Not even arguing for or against P5 vs XB2 here, just pointing out that retardera is ridiculously biased against XB2. It really is not indicative of a broader consensus of the people actually playing P5 and XB2.

But neither of those games are shit?

They're really good, actually.

I haven't played Persona 5 since they're yet to release it on a video game console or PC

I enjoyed Xenoblade 2, however, so I guess I prefer that one

pcsx3 bro

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 only had coomer bait, massive downgrade compared to the first

Persona 5 Royal only made a masterpiece even better

People who have resetgender accounts actually make threads here.

user, you have worst taste than shit taste.

>actually browsing Resetera and trusting their endless bias against XC2
You need to leave.

As someone who has played both, Xenoblade 2 is a better game than Persona 5 by leaps and bounds. While the gameplay does come down to personal preference, I think the story and characters (which let’s be honest is almost anyone talks about with these games) are far better in Xenoblade 2.

Persona 5 has a tendency to completely drop characters and their arcs once their designated palace is finished, with the only exceptions being Kasumi and Goro. Xenoblade 2 has something for every party member to contribute to, directly or indirectly, at almost every major story beat in the game.

Even beyond characters, the story in Persona 5 barely dips it’s toe into the heavy themes it could and should have explored, and ultimately ends with an extremely weak message that boils down to “I’m right and you’re wrong, end of story.” XC2 handles those things with far more tact, and by the end of the game the message of finding one’s place in the world and overcoming personal hatred is well illustrated and impactful.

I enjoyed both games for what they are, but XC2 (despite what many who haven’t played/finished the game will say about it) is far and away the better title.

Xenoblade is an awful series and Persona isn't much better
Persona at least has gameplay that isn't effectively an offline MMO

Hadn't played Persona 5 but I hadn't ever heard anyone say it has gacha before so that. What a terrible mechanic to put in a single player game

why does resetera even like jrpgs? I don't get it

Persona 5 has more normalfag appeal so of course it's going to beat XC2 which often gets criticisms for being "too anime".

"No."

>Persona at least has gameplay
Calling Xenoblade an offline MMO is like calling Persona a pornless VN dating sim.

DQ is by a wide margin the most sterile Japanese franchise

Xenoblade 2's character designs make me uncomfortable, so P5R wins by default.

Persona also has the benefit of not being a shit game

Xenoblade 2. It’s not my favourite, but it does basically everything better.

That's the problem. You keep using the term "game" for products that don't have any gameplay in them. It'd be more accurate to refer to them as visual novels, or even movies.

A game doesn't need the disgusting abomination that is a "cutscene", let alone hours of it. Having dabbled in both Persona and Xenoblade, I can safely say that neither game has any substance if you took out the anime and waifus and cinematics.

Xenoblade's combat is so shit, dude.

>Resetera
Most of those votes were probably from people who didn't play either.

>calling Persona a pornless VN dating sim.
Which is not exactly inaccurate when the jrpg part of p5 is extremely bland and dumbed down even by jrpg standards, to the point even some squareshit has more depth.

Xenoblade 2 is fine.
Persona 5 is trash and everyone who likes it is genuinely retarded.

A spade is a spade. I was referring to Persona's combat mechanics, which are much more akin to traditional JRPG turn based strategy, whereas Xenoblade is cooldown management.

This thread reminded me that Any Forums is dogshit, thank you guys.

Monolith and Atlus really are the only two companies keeping the modern JRPG alive and kicking huh

xenoblade and persona are both fucking garbage loved by midwit teenagers that grew up on pootubers and social media

They're both excellent games, the modern day FF7 and Xenogears.

Whatever resetera votes for Im inclined to disagree with

What games do you play that don't have any cutscenes in them, ACfag?
The reality is that most games have cutscenes in one way or another.

Why are there more and more Resetera screencap threads lately? Is it possible to go even lower?

YIKES

Xenoblade 2 is the game I’ve replayed more, enjoyed more and have more of an emotional connection with
P5R is okay but it feels fucking uneven and pointless in a lot of places. Some of that is from the OG persona 5 and some of it is from how they try to shove Kasumi and Maruki down your throat

>Tetris
>Pong
>Minecraft
>Terraria

These are all examples of games that don't need cinematics shoved in your face every 5 seconds. I don't need tragic backstories and cringeworthy emotions straight out of a tumblr fanfic. But if you're looking for JRPGs, I'd argue that even the Mario RPGs are better, since I would gladly remove every single cutscene in them and STILL think the gameplay is good. Unlike Xenoblade and Persona, where you just pick options from drop down menues and watch cutscenes play out, Mario actually requires you to utilize timed hits. Compared this webm to Mario's gameplay.

Notice how Bros attacks require CONSTANT button inputs, and one screwup destroys it all? Compare that to Xenoblade's "le heckin epic cinematic gameplay" where you press a button once every 50 minutes.

p5 is a glorified movie game
