I do understand this though if the game that drops the number is seen as a sort of reboot for the series. Seeing any number bigger than 3 on the end of a title is pretty hard to sell to people because they're instantly gonna assume that they have to play X amount of previous games to have any clue what's happening. Just using subtitles is the best way to go if there are plans for a long running series, Fire Emblem got it right.
