>On their new podcast, Digital Foundry has revealed some interesting details about the Xbox Series S. According to them, the developers are having a difficult time making games for the consoles. It is highlighted that multiple developers have stated that the Xbox Series S is a pain at times.
Yeah no shit, it's a Xbox one s that can't read disks
Jaxson Myers
Games haven't been read from disc since 2013. It's all copied to HDD then read from that.
Isaac Price
Oh... Hmmmm.... Multiple developers sweety

>It should be noted that this is not coming only from Digital Foundry, and we have had instances in the past when this information came directly from the horse’s mouth. Earlier this year, one of the most anticipated games, Dying Light 2 was released and it was critically acclaimed for both its gameplay and graphics. However, that was true only for the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. The scenario on Xbox Series S was totally different.
>Players who were playing Dying Light 2 on the Xbox Series S were facing a myriad of issues, along with the 30 FPS frame rates. One might wonder that there are other open-world games on the console as well which run pretty well, so what’s the deal with Dying Light 2?
>Well, it was explained by Techland as they added that Dying Light 2 is different because of the “density and verticality of its world” and that is holding them back from making significant improvements on the Xbox Series S. Likewise, games like Elden Ring drop to below 30 FPS even at below 1080p, so it is not a game-specific issue as such. It seems like paying a bit more and getting the Xbox Series
Jayden Davis
So the data just magically flies off from the disc to hdd?
Caleb Hill
Yes. Most "Smart Delivery" discs barely has any data on it. Eat a 45GB download.
Asher Diaz
Oh yeah I remember "smart delivery" being a thing since 2013. NOT. since it was introduced with series s and x. Which are from like 2020. Afaik it downloads the "best" version if you have incorrect game that is not supported by the system you have
Cooper Smith
At the same time they have absolutely no problem shitting out PS4/XB1 versions of the games whatsoever.
Samuel Wright
Good, I want developers to be forced to optimize their games.

This. Why the fuck should I care if developers have to actually optimize their games? Sorry you lazy cunt devs, sucks that you have to actually be reasonable with your optimization instead of just jacking up a fucking number and making dogshit running games.
Luke Mitchell
it plays judgment and lost judgment, so who cares
Chase Myers
DL2 is the perfect example. Techland added a 60fps patch in post release. On release the game was a buggy PoS for all platforms. These days the release comes first, then actual technical effort and polish to optimize the game. Then they bitch about the console being the problem when it’s easy enough to just turn down the resolution and achieve the result they need. It’s so bizzare to me that consumers have dropped their expectations of competency for developers so much in the past 2-3 generations.
Julian Garcia
Yeah, I'm totally going to believe a website based after copyrighted Sony products when they talk about Microsoft. Couldn't be biased at all.
Chase Reed
...Are you arguing for turning down resolution instead of "optimizing" the game?
Cameron Johnson
Great so the whole gen is ruined thanks to microsoft
Thomas Walker
every gen is
Christian Rodriguez
>We've heard of multiple Devs >No, no we won't name them, just trust us, multiple, lots, so many. Just a ton. >Please ignore that our game was a buggy mess on all platforms at release, totally not that we released a broken game
Liam Perry
Yeah, the game is installed on the console. All the disc does is just verify your ownership.
