You had to be there to understand.

Because it's fun

SO HERE I AM

I'm 32

That was Tony Hawk 1 you IDIOT

Great soundtrack, great gameplay, pioneered a new genre of games, THPS2 perfected everything from the first one and added mechanics that led to potentially huge combos leading to pretty much infinite replay value and it came at a time when skateboarding was blowing up

DOING EVERYTHING I CAN.

Because it fucking deserves it. user you live in a future with emulators, just play it instead of being le anti-sportsball nerd

Normalfags will never understand. Your first console was probably a 360 for some kind of sportsball game.

It had Spider-man or something

You were 10. You weren't really there.

Oh, and I forgot the insanely tight and intuitive controls even in the first game even though there really hadn't been a game before it they could have modeled it after

It is more fun and also better and holds up better than OOT

>Normalfags will never understand.
THPS isn't normalfag? Everyone has memories of playing those games.

THERE'S A PLACE WHERE EVERYONE CAN BE HAPPY

white people

because it's a good game :Gigachad:

Tony Hawk walks with a cane now and it's depressing as fuck.

Nope. I'm 32. My first consoles were the NES and the SEGA Megadrive ( I never had a SNES) and I had a PS1. I just never understood why people liked a skateboarding game so much.

You didn't have to be there
Download the game and you will see how fun it is

Did the soundtrack not have enough nigger beats for you?

To prove that the system is flawed and reviews should be immediately discarded.

SO HERE I AM

>Fall on your face for 40 years
>Be surprised when you have trouble walking later in life

THPS is a time/point attack arcade game with some of the tightest, best feeling controls known to man, consistently fantastic soundtrack choices, and a skateboarding skin on top.

>I just never understood why people liked a skateboarding game so much
Have you played it?
What about skateboarding makes you think it wouldn't make for great game mechanics? It's basically a 3D platformer on wheels. You sound like you have a bias against "sports" games due to being a nerd, but extreme sports games are probably the games that most carry on the legacy of Super Mario 64's focus on movement

Shouldn't be the highest rated but it was legitimately an excellent game. I don't give 2 shits about sports and it was still incredibly fun.

I was 11 and played that game at the skatepark between sessions. We had a comfy couch set up on a halfpipe, smoking cigarettes and weed we got from very irresponsible young adults who were basically our babysitters. (In the 00's, in a god damn warehouse in the hood). That user is just lame dude.

And yet hardly any of the games are on PC.
All I want is to be cozy and play Proving Grounds again.

I was there though. I had the PS1 but mostly played stuff like action games and rpgs and platformers and whatnot. I never played any sports games

Have you played it? Other than what people have already said it just has so many things that come together so well in a video game even if you don't like skateboarding. The mechanics, level design, soundtrack, and fantastic controls just make for an all around incredible video game

because its that good, play videogames for once OP

I'm not denying its good. I'm just wondering why its the 2nd highest rated game ever. Its a bit weird to have a sports game as the 2nd best game ever.

Found the faggot who didn't have friends to play THPS with as a kid

>I never played it
>Wtf I don't understand why people like it
just download the fucking game already holy shit here's a dreamcast emulator: github.com/flyinghead/flycast

There's the remake, but it's Epic only.
Now that I think about it, I have never seen much gameplay of it, but I do wanna try it out.

if any of you fuckers didn't/don't actually skate, you didn't beat the game.

Probably because it was accessible. Had a very low barrier to entry but still a lot of depth and fun to it. It's a game almost anyone could enjoy.
