Wish there was a Starwars Battlefront-like for the Warhammer universe, all factions, massive maps, all weaponry, endless bloodbaths.
40k Battlefront
Didn't they try that and it failed spectacularly?
Eternal Crusade was more of a tooled up version of Space Marines multiplayer. It also sucked.
yep, thread over.
Battlefront was a tooled up version of Unreal Tournament's onslaught mode, that doesn't stop eternal crusade from being functionally the same.
Yes but how about we get a dev studio to actually make a good version of that
Because at the end of the day, if you're capable of making a good game you're going to make one that doesn't alienate people who don't give a shit about warhammer.
How do you balance it?
A space marine would absolutely cuck most races 1v1
A space marine could be the equivalent to a hero in battlefront
And that was just Epics take on Battlefield 1942's gameplay. We could do this all day, but Eternal Crusade felt like a more open, less enjoyable Space Marine multiplayer match then anything else.
Or a MAX in Planetside 2
This, I think planetside 2 offers a better formula for Warhammer 40k
You want high numbers, not fair fights
More health and damage, less units. You can have one Space Marine be like five guardsmen in power but ten times less deployment numbers, assuming marines and guard are different factions, or have every unit have a certain cost.
You can't get a 40k experience with massive maps.
MAG (PS3), Planetside 2 and Just cause 2 multiplayer were fun but even at full capacity the maps are huge and at max you'll only encounter 10 players at once.
Just throw in lots of bots. First Battlefront never felt empty even if you played it as singleplayer.
so like every successful warhammer game thats come out so far, gotcha
what a non-post lol
Developing a Wh40k on the level of Battlefront, with all of the franchises factions, would be quite the task, would definitely require a large studio.
With 40k, you can only do skirmish scale.
This is because regardless of how big you do make it, it will never live up to the retardedly massive scale 40k has set up for itself.
>we will never have a mcfuckfuge Siege of Terra Horus Heresy game featuring primarchs that alternates between RTS, FPS and resource management with visual novel elements and you can play for both sides
A man can dream.
I dont think every faction in 40k being playable is a good idea.
You also cant make grand alliances without some factions just being left out.
>Empire alliance is huge
>Chaos alliance is also huge
>Eldar is medium sized
>Tyranids and cults together could maybe work
>Tau, orks and necrons left out.
So youd have to balance things out and make a lot of things equal to each other. An idea maybe is to have "Tiers"
Lets take eternal crusade's example and have 4 factions, chaos empire, eldar and orks as these are the ones everyone knows.
Tier 1 would be empire guardsmen, chaos cultists, eldar guardians and ork boyz.
Tier 2 would be less common than tier 1 but stronger, so space marines, chaos space marines, eldar dire avengers and ork nobz.
Tier 3 would be space marines terminators, chaos space terminators, wraithguard and ork meganobz.
Then you would have specialists. each tier having a range of specials. and then vehicles would have tiers also with the biggest vehicles being legendary 1 per side at a time. Baneblades, chaos greater demons, wraithknights and gorkanaughts/morkanaughts.
With those being controlled by multiple players each.
I'd just be content with a Total War scale Horus Heresy game, lot's neat shit in that era.
