Should I buy Elden Ring if I've never played a souls game, sekiro, or bloodborne? I mostly play competitive online games so this would be a change of pace

Why is Elden Ring cheaper than base DS3 with no dlc?

Elden Ring isn't fun. Its an absolute fucking chore to play.

I keep thinking that Elden Ring is an amazing game, best game I've played in years, but 90% of the time when I'm playing it I'm telling myself "I'm not even having fun this game fucking sucks"

Get it but expect a long game

Try different builds, bring 5-10 weapons each with different ash of war, switch them up

ER is my first Soulsgame and I love it
I guess it helps that I'm not familiar with reused enemies and minidungeon gimmicks from previous games

pretty much. The best thing about the game are the ashes of war and the nonlinearity. The only really worthwhile parts are the legacy dungeons. The boss design in ER is garbage compared to basically everything but DaS2. The overworld is pure filler. The NPC questlines are crap and some are STILL unfinished.

the previous games were pretty sparing with reusing bosses. And the other games didn't have minidungeons, they had various areas that were designed like dungeons. They were like the best parts of Elden Ring but it was for the entire game.

Buy DS3 with the DLCs, overall a better experience

I'm going to be entirely honest with you. When I first got it, I despised it because I didn't know what I was doing. I forced myself to play it until I learned what I was supposed to do and how to use the many different features in the game. Then I wound up loving it, but only for a short while. The game does not tell you anything, or where you're supposed to go. The only the way to complete quests the "right way" is to look it up. Same goes for builds. This game revolves around using external sources to be successful. You'll spend more time looking at your computer or phone trying to figure shit out. Anybody that tells you, "I've been leveling up just by exploring" is a fucking bullshit liar. The game has MASSIVE difficulty spikes everywhere. Entire areas of the map also require you to be a certain level before going there, but you'd never know because you aren't told. It isn't like Borderlands where they have numbers next to their names so you can bail.

Every enemy, not just bosses has the following...
>insane tracking
>broken hitboxes
>infinite ammo/mana to spam arrows and spells. Enemies will literally spam ranged attack nonstop
>chain combos
>input reading like fighting game ai
>more hp than they need
Also, there's input lag with everything you do. It feels like Rdr except you're using swords.
I made it to level 112 then I stopped after a certain boss. Stick with other games that actually take skill and respect your time.

bloodborne is pretty fun and imo the closest souls ever got to good* pvp

This. I like open world games and this game is so fucking boring to play. I keep telling myself wtf is the point in exploring the map and shit with non sensical dialogue and side quests if you can even call them that. This is my first souls game and nothing makes any sense.

I actually suggest you to play DS3 and you will realize how metafaggotry Elden Ring is and how everyone is tryharding out of their minds with mimic and other bullshit stuff

Literally everyone is doing one of these things that actually look stupid as fuck, they are stupid gameplay wise and input wise:

>jumping r2 (I did this, just beat every boss by jumping r2 x3 and then posture break) with powerstance or a two hand katana (for some reason a two hand katana has the same posture damage than powerstanced UGS)
>comet azur
>item that neglect all damage for certain bosses
>items that literally make duo bosses become single bosses as a gimmick
>usage of terrain as if it were intended to break the AI of the game with a pillar because they don't know how to go around
>mimic tear +10
>(pre patch) mimic with hoarfrost
>(pre patch) mimic with bloody slash
>(post pach) rivers of blood

its fucking absurd and its probably the worst action game I have ever seen from fromsoft, DS3 is a fucking masterpiece in comparison

110% yes. This is genuinely the best game to have come out in years and is worth every penny. You not playing other From games is a double edged sword, now Elden Ring will be even better but now trying other From games is going to make them all feel worse. Any saying its trash is unironically a mentally ill shazamtranny overdosing on estrogen, don't listen to those things.
