he was completely wrong about dark souls. the first game had amazing plot and story and the lore was there if you wanted to dig deeper. zanzibart is popular now because elden ring is so fucking shit that it perfectly encapsulates how fucking bad a job they did. theres no story or plot in that game. its like they took scraps from other souls games and slapped them together. theres no consistency or world building or lore. its just random gibberish nonsense. The Lord of Dung from the Lands Between bestole the Great Shithole of the Lost Ethering, but there was ANOTHER foul bespirched Within The Great Othering - just random capitalized words thrown around to explain other capitalized words. Never explained or expanded upon or anything found to explain any of it. Dark Souls wasnt like that at all.

It's a form of storytelling which is certainly valid but the fact that Souls fans think it's the best one or only valid one is not true. Not every game has to be lore heavy but have a shit narrative where the character you play is a near blank slate that is literally worse than a self-insert from anime or manga.

I've learned from a lot of work buddies and college buds that basically nobody understands the story of these games until they either pull up a website like a wiki and binge it or go to a youtuber who explains a lot of it.

Thoroughly convinced these games have dick riders solely because of some illusion they're better than most others. As if that clunky combat up to Bloodborne, scattered plots, 151 castles, main plot being "humans fuck up, now you fight godly shit to try and fix it"are the finest accomplishments of gaming.
