Guide v1.2 Changes:

Yes, it is completely arbitrary, especially given how vague the Ocarina of Time's powers are. They could have made you able to slow down time even further or completely stop it. The 3 day limit in and of itself was foundational for the game, but it too is arbitrary. They could have chosen 2 days or 4 if they had wanted to and based everything around that
Regardless, it's retarded thing in and of itself. I don't care if you've been the game since you were a child and know it like the back of your hand, there's no real way to justify wasting the player's time in the way MM does given that the puzzles are all observation based. Punishing the player because they didn't notice X thing in time is just a shitty decision

Mm is great and has ewually great replay value. You can optimize your schedule, push for a fast game clear, focus on doing as much as possible in a cycle. Just played it recently and got a nice 6 cycle 100%.
