this area is one of the most impressive in all of gaming. it's so complex and labyrinthine. there's so many secrets to it. you can easily miss half of it. the game peaked here. why did it drop off so hard after this? why does From have a habit of doing this? the rest of the dungeons/castles feel like an afterthought.
This area is one of the most impressive in all of gaming. it's so complex and labyrinthine...
I don't care
But the other dungeons are even better and Leyndell is the zenith of video games.
But Leyndell is far more better
Stormveil and Capital (including sewers) were fucking amazing and gigantic.
Literally everything else is just mediocre at best.
I actually do like it quite a bit. It's a shame it's in an open world garbage game. Man, if Elden Ring were a properly designed and sized game that was mostly areas like this, it'd be the actual game of the decade instead of le meme game of the decade
someone at from has a fucking boner for labyrinthian castles, it's always way more high effort than the rest
Farum Azula is better
Huh? HUH??? OP you're either baiting of you're underage. If you want well designed levels with secrets and nice visuals you could play games from 20 years ago and see how meh Elden Ring is.
Unpopular opinion but I think it's because limgrave and stormveil had a sense of scale that was more lifelike and grand. Leyndell and other "castle" areas feel like a child's idea of what a castle would be like. They lack the sense of scale that real world places have, where you could spend an hour just walking from one part of the castle to another. All visual eye candy, but when you actually walk through leyndell it feels like it's the size of a small town IRL.
Compare that with Boletaria in Demons Souls, where a 1/4 of the game is only ONE castle, with a lifelike sense of scale and grandeur. Elden ring emphasizes the player too much, and the late game areas are just small arenas with nice visuals but ultimately feel unrealistic and small in scale. They lack the feeling of grandeur that stormveil has, and the feeling of exploration. Idk how else to explain it.
there's like a handful of you spergs that stan this game. dont know why
Leyndell was mediocre at best.
>it feels like it's the size of a small town IRL.
well no shit dude, it's a video game. that's intentional. do you also get mad that the game map is only a handful of square miles too?
Yeah Leyndell is tiny and easy to navigate. I guess if you add the sewers it adds some depth but I really thought it was a let down.
>It intentionally sucks.
Why are FROM drones like this?
The fuck are you talking about, Leyndell and Stormveil are both bigger than Boletaria
> I don't care
no, leyndell is far less better
But it's not about the size specifically. It's hard to describe exactly what it is, but Stormveil seems like its based on a real life castle design. Leyndell is totally unrealistic. I guess at the end of the day maybe it just comes down to personal taste.
Boletaria is literally the entire arch stone, starting from the front gate and going all the way to Old King Allant. It's way bigger than stormveil or leyndell and it's not even close lmao
name five (5) games with FULL SIZED and NOT procedurally-generated cities. boomer shit like arena/daggerfall don't count.
Nigga wat?
>Run down path with tooters
>Jump onto roofs to right
>Run past imps down onto street level
>You're basically done
Not to mention the Erdtree Avatar just randomly walking down main street lol Leyndell is wank.
>Boletaria is literally the entire arch stone, starting from the front gate and going all the way to Old King Allant.
Yes exactly, Leyndell and Stormveil are bigger.
Wrong. Limgrave, Raya Lucaria, Prison Town and Farum Azula are all really great. Caelid, Dragon Barror, Haelig Tree and Altus Plateau are decent too.
