according to who? Steam hit its highest cocncurrent users ever at 28m a couple months ago. Epic exclusives have come and gone. Epic doesn't share the same information as Valve, but the last bit they did share regarding exclusives is that none of them actually made any money on Epic.

All that mostly happens is that you get paki/Indians taking these free games and then the moment the free games stop - the account is up on ebay for 100-200 bucks. Paki/indian sellers claiming account is worth 500
