Open world games are good when the content in them is designed with an open world in mind. Elden Ring is good, Dragons Dogma is good. Oblivion is pretty good. Etc.

Shit like Ass Creed which is just "look we put a 100km x 100km game space for you to play in with 100000000 copy pasted buildings (10 unique locations only) and 4000000000000 repeatable quests" sucks fucking dick. I do wish open world games in general would die out. Or atleast I hope devs put more effort into them. Almost every open world game could easily be chopped up into "linear but open" game worlds and would be 1000x better for it

Open world is the definitive game genre.
Non open world games feel limited and handicapped.
