For real though, no, no substance to the game, gets boring way faster than most other Animal Crossing titles, villagers are boring, and if you don't care about sharing your island with fags who sell fictional villagers for IRL money there is really nothing to do.

yes. the sanding down of villager personalities i feel is outweighed by the QoL and the ability to terraform your island.
i can't go on hours long fishing trips in new leaf, and now that i think about it i think having a permasummer island to go to as the premier bell making method is kinda lame. i do miss the minigames on the island in new leaf, but i have my new leaf town still so there's no real issue there.
my final gripe is the lack of the red riding dress so i can't make this particular villager without custom designs, and i'm too stupid to make it myself

Just started the game and I have to agree. Biggest complaint so far is that you can't craft X number of an item at once, which means you have to go through all the animations and text again to craft the same item over and over. This is similarly a problem at the museum.

the dialogues are the fucking same on everyone and lost the soul from previous AC games, that's one of the big reasons people are complaining
it's comfy as first until you realize how simple they are
even the grumpy characters act happy
they removed a lot of features from other AC games too

I like new horizons, I've spent too many hours on it, it's comfy, but compared to previous games it lacks soul
