Why is weapon design so unimaginative in Elden Ring? You would think all these different weapons would have cool little effects but it's the same effect (status build up), same moveset for weapons and on top of that the actual good weapon list is limited.
Why couldn't they have unique effects like....a poison weapon that inflects a slow dot over the course of a minute...
Or a stackable shadowflame dot that stacks within a 3 second window for huge burst damage
Or a freeze debuff that will weaken the defence armor wearers have
Or a lightning debuff that does the little when the boss is walking to provide another attack oppening
Or a haemorrhage debuff that gives your critical attacks a 1.5x multiplier.
why the fuck did they not have some creative options. and you cannot tell me that it would be OP. Fucking bleed buildup shit and OP spells are way more OP.
? no. every status build up is basically the same effect. build up status build up and then do burst damage. there is no innovation. it's just lazy design.

i beat the game completely barebones as a STRChad for the challenge. But now I'm bored and picking apart the game and wondering why the fuck did they cut so many corners. It would've been fine if it was a linear game. But for open world? C'mon. add some fucking spice.
poison literally is a slow dot over 90 seconds, deadly poison is a faster dot over 30 seconds frostbite already does lower enemy's defenses by 20%

poison and rot do damage over time frost reduces your defense madness reduces fp blackflame has a small dot lightning does more damage when it's raining, and lightning spells have an aoe if you're standing in water there's more variety there than in any previous souls game

DS1 and DS3 are shorter games so you can set up a new build (that will guaranteed work in endgame because DS is better refined) in less time
currently in ER you NEED at least 10 hours to set up a new build, which is fucking insane, and if you are going for PvP you need even more, and if you make a new build you quickly realize some shit is straight up broken and easy to get because they knew they needed to give these cheese tools to people so they didn't complain
