How the fuck could you POSSIBLY enjoy watching this dogshit instead of just watching the trailers you're interested in after the show? It's retarded.
Because Nintendo figured out back in like 2012 that driving dozens of people out and hiring people to maintain a booth, and scheduling a live hour long show where everything can go wrong is a really fucking stupid idea, and doing livestreams of prerecorded material is easier, much cheaper, and gets you the same audience.

It's been shit for over a decade. It doesn't even make sense anymore from a business perspective.
Devs have to do a bunch of extra work polishing a one-off demo, stop working on the game and fly out to LA for a week, spend a bunch of money setting up a booth, etc. Then they have to compete for attention against a hundred other developers all releasing teasers and stuff at the same time.
OR they can just post a teaser on youtube/twitter/reddit/etc. during a slow week when they'll get more attention and have their employees post about it on all their social media to spread it.
Even if they want to do a lengthy presentation they can just do it on a small soundstage any time and stream it to Twitch/Youtube.

E3 used to be fun when it was funny and cringy. Its been completely soulless for years now. Especially without live conferences and skits. Nintendo will do its direct, Sony will do a State of Play or whatever and Microsoft will have a digital event of their own. E3 is an outdated institution.

E3 stood for the "big three" Nintendo, Sony and Xbox, coming together to host the biggest gaming conference on the planet, but right now everything is about competition and marketing.
All of these big 3 companies now are big enough to host their own events and because of covid they can do it for the lowest cost digitally.

I guess this is true and I'd still watch it all the same if it was something I was interested in. Also less chance for fuck ups either. That said I remember when Nintendo showed off something new and for whatever reason left in footage of some pokemon game stuttering at 5fps when they could have easily have chosen better footage for their prerecorded vid.
