I kept seeing threads about this guy but I hadn't got to him so I never went in them. What's the consensus on him, did people really find him that hard? I beat him on the 4th try.

He really rapes some builds/playstyles and is very easy with others

he was easy. most people are shitters. Also i think a lot of people fought him soley on horse back leading them to continuously get hit by his big swings

I have hard time understanding how your build can affect beating him
You get between his feet and he can do jackshit

my favorite boss in elden ring strangely

Not hard, but tedious due to his enormous health bar and constant rolling around in phase two. Took me a few more tries than it should've as a low vig STR build just because of the length of the fight plus most of his moves OHKOing me from off screen due to the fucked Fromsoft Big Enemy Camera.

extremely tedious fight, has 1 million hp and just keeps rolling away spamming ranged attacks.

Except a huge randomised firestorm (that's fairly easy to dodge but can fuck you up, if you don't get a good grip on your distance to his feet).
Except roll away and smack you with his enormous shield.
Except stomping your shit for your entire health bar in one shot.

Why are you in this thread, if your entire experience with this game boils down to watching some streamer beating the game hitless Level 1 with the trumpet as his main weapon?
Phase 2 doesn't even give you the comfort of standing between his feet.

I found him rather easy as a melee build. Maybe its different for caster, but only took two tries. Only died the first time since I got stuck in his fire vomit second phase.

I beat him first try. Any boss that allows horse combat is easy.

I beat him on the second try because once phase 2 started I instantly died and had to start over. He was a joke and I expected a lot more. Maybe he was bugged for me.

Has anyone tried shooting the central eye with a bow in phase 2? I'm curious if that is effective.

He's easy as fuck if you have max flasks and not a retardly low amount of hp. I even beat him 1st try and I spent the whole first phase trying to break his right leg because I thought it would do the same thing as his left leg.

it was quite literally just people who had just got to him and were frustrated that they had died to him a few times, and then made a thread about it
of course those threads were immediately populated with people screaming at each other for whatever reason
I thought he was a cool boss, kind of strange, much easier than his area, and I feel bad when his leg rips off.

How. I really don’t get it. He takes a fuckton of damage when you hit his weakpoints and doesn’t have much if any combos, just single attacks. Did you just get one shot a bunch from having low vigor or something?

Don't be greedy and it's easy to get away from.

Again, don't be greedy and manage your stamina and you should have enough time to dash forward before the swing.

Don't lock on to his feet (or any large enemy in ER) and you can easily get out of the way.

Yeah, I did. Seems to do weakpoint damage similar to slapping his arms, nothing crazy really. There seem to be no special interactions, like a prolongued stun for shooting the eye either.
