Has this been the worst upgrade system in all the souls games?

Has this been the worst upgrade system in all the souls games?

Now it takes 96 stones to get regular weapons to +24 vs the 9 you need for special weapons. Regular weapons never have better stats than the top tier special weapons and you need to fuck up any chance of starting sidequests to be able to buy high tier upgrade materials in the shop.

It has never been more unfun to try new weapons in any other fromsoft game.

shut the fuck up already you dumbfuck

it also makes exploration lame as hell. you go around and find dinky useless stones and need a ton of them

Why the fuck do 3s and 7s be so hard to find

You can buy every single stone that isn't the final ancient one. It's the easiest its ever been. Farming runes is easy as hell too with wave of gold at the start of mohgs realm.

Biggest flaw with the game for me by far. It's ridiculous how many smithing stones you need to stockpile to fully upgrade ONE weapon compared to the somber ones

>stop criticizing the game
no, fuck you.

>You can buy every single stone that isn't the final ancient one
Yeah when you're at the ass-end of the game, two bosses away from the credits. Enemies have already outpaced your +12 weapon long before you get the third bell, and waiting until after Godskin Duo to give you the fourth is just retarded.

ITT: people complain about stones despite the fact that you can buy them AND that their price has been literally slashed since release

It cost me something like 2 million runes to upgrade a weapon before they reduced the price by 75% or so, and it was still fine at that time. Fuck off.

They had to stretch it out because of the open world. Open world was a mistake.

It has never been more unfun to try new weapons in any other fromsoft game.

You don't need to upgrade a weapon to +24 to try it out, you nigger.

they cut the stone prices by 80% already

DS3 showered you with materials all throuout the game. At any given point you could at least bring one new weapon up to speed.

DS2 gave you tons of vendors to buy materials from and you could even get high tier ones participating in the bell covenants

DS1 was stingier but ashes weren't a thing so by mid game (anor londo) you already had access to buy most upgrade materials

The worst part of the distribution. You can get a +10 somberstone weapon within an hour while you'd have to play through most of the game to max upgrade something that doesn't use them.

The game utterly shits stones on you while you're going though the game.
Go in to mines retards, you get like 20+ stones for various tiers that way

prices were never the problem idiots. read the thread or fuck off

if price isn't the problem then just buy a lot of them at once and be done with it you fucking crybaby

>b-b-but I have to work to find the ball bearings
cry more, then cope

>thank you daddy, now I understand what I need to do to literally easily upgrade any weapon in the game to its max-1

Yes.
>can't get access to buying anything without getting lucky and finding a specific cave with the bell
>bells for mid to high tier stones are all in the last few hours of the game, because they decided it'd be a good idea to make the bells findable when you've already got a stockpile of the stones in and ABOVE that tier
>severely limited on what you can upgrade for 80% of the game, making the game extremely punishing if you wasted your stones on a weapon that isn't as good as you thought it'd be
They should have just had Hewg sell you stones from the start, with his shop gaining a new tier of stones every time you kill a major boss. Would have been way better than the retarded bells.

lol

weapons should have no upgrades at all

>Regular weapons never have better stats than the top tier special weapons
Wrong. Regular weapons regularly have superior scaling than special weapons when you infuse them with ashes of war

Regular weapons are better in general because you can put OP ashes on them and status

Nice argument, literally irrelevant.
You don't need a weapon to be +24 to "try it out".
