>""unique"" weapons cannot be infused
>this thing can be infused, a one per playthrough weapon with an effect almost nothing else shares
>random ass weapons that can be farmed cannot be infused
>some weapons can be infused but not buffed, or buffed but not infused
why is this system so fucking stupid? why not let people infuse every weapon and let people use weapon buffs that correspond to the infusion?
""unique"" weapons cannot be infused
'balance'
>30 different weapon types
>literal 100s of different weapons
>only a small handful are actually viable if you want to actually play the game instead of spamming jump attacks
>fewer than that are actually used in pvp
Remember Dark Souls where Chaos Zweihander was the "le epic meta min/max" weapon but pretty much anything was viable in both pvp and in the actual game?
Delusional. Pretty much every weapon in Elden Ring is being used and everything is viable. Rapiers, Katanas, Daggers, even fucking spears and a horn that blows bubbles.
Dark souls is the most static meta of all the souls game. BSS was the only viable weapon with sourcery/faith + Darkmoon/crystal Strength had no weapons. DEX was a toss up between using the scythe/BSS/QF + power within. Weapon damage was also worthless as it was always better to go standard and just use buffs.
I would unironically love to have Dark Souls 2's weapon infusion and buffing system back. It was one of the few things about that game that was a complete improvement over every other game in the franchise even if you did end up with a ton of meme shit like beating people to death with Mundane ladles.
Mundane was amazing.
Dual-wielding broken straight swords was PVP-viable thanks to mundane (they use barely any stamina to swing; it's glorious).
Build variety in DS2 will always be king. It also had the most fun pvp.
>Weapon damage was always worthless
I don't get from's design philosophy behind split damage. Basically pins your weapon against two resistances that enemies always have to some degree. So anything that isn't extremely weak to it is going to take less. It's fucking stupid.
Broken straightswords were great for status effects too.
It bugs me that weapons can be upgraded to 25. What was wrong with 10? It takes way too long to find all the smithing stones you need.
I've been using the rusted anchor for so long now. Does a better strength weapon ever come along?
>Dual-wielding broken straight swords
Poison builds were pretty nuts in DaS2
>Scorpion stinger rapiers can poison AND be infused with poison stones for extra poison build up
>Butterfly armor pieces causes very slow poison build up so if you hug an enemy's nuts their poison build up can't actually tick down
>Once they're poisoned their health drains harder than even DaS1 toxic
>At this point just stay close to them and punish any attempt to heal
Not super OP but very fun and satisfying way to play aggressively
Because they have higher AR to compensate. How well it works varies between games and weapons but there are *plenty* of strong dual element weapons in ER. In fact most of the really good ones are.
I miss my broken straightswords. I think it's unacceptable that these are not in Elden Ring.
agreed. part of the reason the souls series flowed so well was because you could experiment with weapon builds due to the generous drops. in this game you're basically forced into grinding for shit only to find out that your weapon is complete garbage compared to a new unbalanced one you found
What the fuck? Why would they do that?
Now I have to find another weapon for my "your grandfather on one last adventure" build.
There are weathered straightsword but it's essentially just a slightly wider shortsword.
You clearly are not playing pvp where you are at a massive disadvantage if you are not using moonveil, rivers of blood, or some other bleed weapon
I know, right? It's so fucking weird. I thought it was a guaranteed addition like the Moonlight GS. Or clubs. Or poison swamps
i kept a poison infused spotted whip tucked away just for turtling faggots
and an avelyn for the specific moment they'd try to back off and heal and thought they were far enough to be safe
There's a swordcane in the capital that says it belonged to some old dude whose fighting days were behind him but be couldn't stand to be separated from his sword. Don't think there's anything unique about its moveset or stats, but it'd fit the old dude aesthetic, no?
The broken straightsword has always been around and the weapon of Chads. I miss it dearly.
There should be limited places that allow you to clone weapons, like the mausoleums that let you clone boss souls
and I know why they wouldn't do it, but I'd appreciate some way to re-skin armor
I know armor doesn't matter that much but my autism hates seeing numbers go down because I want to wear something sleeker and less bulky
They didn't boost the damage split so high in DaS, which was the major reason why infusions were useless.
DaS II remedy this by letting you infuse weapons that had inherient magic stats with said element leading to a greater portion of the weapons overall damage being that element.
Plus it allowed buffing
It basically proved that Miyazaki's sentiment on how weapons and be modified is retarded.
We know there actually isn't an issue with a weapon being a pure type since MLGS and others usually have pure damage, but I guess he just wants to force mages into using those.
cast aside your autism user
we've all done it, i know you can
>find new weapon
>try out moveset
>wow this will never work in invasions
>move on
>repeat 500 times
>pvp
no one cares especially not fromsoft.
Where do you get that
Every weapon is viable in PvE. So the question of weapon “viability” is a strictly PvP question
>wow this will never work in invasions
Opinion discarded, nobody cares
> I'd appreciate some way to re-skin armor
I get the idea, especially considering that all of the heavier armors in Elden Ring are downright ugly. I've not used anything other than Radahn's since I got it on my first playthrough, and the last tier is truly abominable
Poison in DS2 does about 2X the DS1 damage (1100 damage in total for DS2 and 540 to 720 in DS1 for most things), however it happens in 20 seconds instead of 3 whole fucking minutes. DS1 toxic is 3000-4200 damage over about 10 minutes. Unless my math is shit you would take 55 dps from DS2 poison while DS1 toxic does 5-7 dps. Yeah i'm thinking DS2 poison build is pretty based.
He said viable in PvP without spamming jump r2
>which was the major reason why infusions were useless
They absolutely weren't, though. A lightning infused gargoyle halberd easily did enough damage to carry any build through NG with minimal requirements. Infused weapons also dominated PvP under SL90 or so.
fags complaining about le giantdad noobtrap build werent there for zaphanders and midkumo
>>only a small handful are actually viable if you want to actually play the game instead of spamming jump attacks
The mark of the shitter that doesn't know how to press the dodge button.
I fucking love retards that never once liked these games, that hate the mechanics and the way it plays, do everything in their power to avoid having to play the game and then cry about the game being bad.
You are the retards that choose not to learn how to dodge and how to properly attack using the weapon you choose.
>fill the game up with easy mode options so shitters stop crying
>they cry even more
>but pretty much anything was viable in both pvp and in the actual game?
You seriously pretending to have done DS1 PvP? lmao
Sorry, typo - PvE
Plenty of exploits and bugs being fixed in a matter of days and OP shit getting nerfed (moonveil).
Fromsoft will take the next few months to hone out PvP and make it bearable; then they'll add matchmaking on a badass Colliseum. Hopefully they'll expand on it this time and maybe give out some PvP exclusive rewards, like Mohg's Great rune?
If you actually played pvp you’d know that everyone is just spamming L2 with rivers of blood and moonveil
The weathered straightsword could never replace the broken straightsword.
