To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand the Dung Eater . His purpose is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of the lore most of his dialogue will go over a typical player's head. There's also Dung Eaters nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from A Song of Ice and Fire, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of his motives, to realize that they're not just disgusting - they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Dung Eater truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the dark irony in Dung Eaters existential catchphrase "I can kill you and defile your corpse" which itself is a cryptic reference to Daenerys Targaryen from the epic A Dance with Dragons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Miyazakis and George R.R. Martins genius unfolds itself on their screens.
