How do we fix horror games or how can we make a good horror games?

>Lie on soft carpet
>Zzzzzzz

Make a game that utilizes real footage of murders and rapes in it's cutscenes.

You can't.

>the other races of hominids that existed around the time of very early humans
>dead bodies
there's your explanation

Why do people find this creepy? It's comfy and I love walking around the corridors of a hotel with 80's carpeting.

Stop making Amnesia over and over again. Hide and seek simulators have flooded the market for over a decade now and it's lost its charm. Having to go hide in a closet for 2-3 minutes every time the monster shows up is annoying and pads a three hour game into 8 hours.

Make fighting as much as decision as running, but not so much that it's an action game. Give the player the ability to stand and fight but the dilemma of limited resources making it so that they may not be able to afford to. It's a good way to build tension without being entirely helpless.

Beyond that, focusing on atmosphere. However, atmosphere does not come solely from "it is so dark I can't see a fucking thing." Atmosphere can come from good sound design (or lack thereof), a sense of loneliness, and good environmental art direction which is not very useful if you can't see it.

Neither of these trigger the uncanny valley

>the other races of hominids that existed around the time of very early humans
you wouldn't know since you've never seen them
>dead bodies
yes they do.

the only example i can think of is we existed alongside neanderthals at some point. but it's fun to think about and easy to apply to a horror situation

t. ADHD millennial who's never seen The Shining

>Take a photo of a normal hallway in a budget hotel
>Add some cum stains on the carpet, or don't depending on how budget we're talking
>Slap a film grain over it
>This makes the zoomer piss and shit and cum out of every pore

Make a game where you forgot the basement light on and you have to turn it off and then get out

>niggers
unironically

A moving dead body might. Can't say it comes up very often, but it's a little spooky when it does.

yeah
