Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade

You know what I wanted? What I really wanted?

A remake of final fantasy 7.

Not a money grab bs spin off reboot with remake in the title.

I would have been absolutely stoked with the exact same game with modern graphics and voice acting. I’m talking turn based battle system, old school techno soundtrack and the exact. god. damned. story.

I could accept the updated battle system because well it is 2020 and they needed something to attract new fans. Despite the small number of hot keys it is quite fun once you get used to it.
If only this was the extent of the changes.

You would think with a remake of one of the most beloved rpgs of all time, they wouldn’t take too many liberties with the narrative right. I mean it is a story based game after all. Wrong.

There is so much unnecessary padding disguised as character development and fan service. Some of the cutscenes do nothing but confuse the timeline and the new plot developments are so bad it’s painful to watch.

It’s clear this was just a fan baiting money grab from the start. FF7 already had a ton of content in the original, and not just the main story. From side arcs to get new summon materia, new characters, defeating the weapons, everything at the golden saucer and of course the beloved chocobo racing. There was already so much there, I accepted (at first) that maybe instalments were justified.
It turns out that after fortnite and ea have desecrated the gaming industry with their micro transactions, se have tried their own tactic to make some money; remake a game, but take the first maybe 5-10 hours of game play and stretch it into 40 and call that part one.

This is the worst thing to happen to a franchise since disney bought Star Wars.

I honestly don’t know how they thought this would go down well. New fans would be bored and confused while existing fans will be frustrated and disappointed.

I guess they could count on disgruntled fans to now buy the original and make up for sales they will lose on the next part of the remake but it seems like a very weak and unsustainable business plan.

I personally have been a devoted ff fan since I first played ff7. I plan to buy 7-9 originals and probably never buy another square enix product again.

bump

But dude, you bought a PS5 so you can rebuy the game at full price and buy the Yuffie dlc, right? It's the way the game was meant to be played

i have not played it yet since its not a real remake

i HATE that it went full kingdom hearts

t.kid with autism that played ff7 2 times a year from 6th grade till end of HS

>techno soundtrack
What game are you talking about because it’s obviously not ff7

No they don’t just Mexicans

more like her caregiver didnt force her to the gym and let her get fat

>exact same game with modern graphics and voice acting
Ew. Why? Higher fidelity graphics don't matter. Voice acting doesn't matter. Those things might actually make games worse on average.

Waaaah waaaah I wanted the same shit game and they improved it, something unexpected of the shittiest Japanese developer, how dare they?

All women get fat, latinas just get fat quicker

Dora was weirdly hot as fuck in this movie. thank god she's older than 18.

See:

>improved it
brainlet take

The brainlet take is holding expectations for SquareEnix in 2022.

If Tifa isn't getting clapped by Cloud under the Highwind by the end of the game like she was in front the Italian senate then this was all for nothing

wtf i love latinas now

she literally got hotter

>and they improved it
7R is one of the worst games to come out in the ff7 series.

The original FF7 script with modern graphics and real voice acting would have looked goofy as fuck. FF7 was a game that is heavily rooted in the technology of the time.

I'm personally glad we're finally getting a video game remake that isn't trying to just replace the original. Because if it was trying to replace the original people would just be complaining "noooo Sector 5 doesn't have the EXACT same atmosphere of the original graphics or "this camera angle isn't exactly as good as the one in the original."

99% of the time when they remake a game 1:1 just with new graphics I find the old graphics more charming and consistent anyway.

Meanwhile every time they do just take an old game and give it modern graphics, we see nothing but posts complaining about how it's SOULLESS or it doesn't look exactly how you interpreted it as a kid.
