And despite the obvious fact that Luffy was probably going to get it, it is such a long running series (with over 1000 chapters) that you felt like Luffy was EARNING the One Piece.

Now it is revealed that the One Piece was never up for grabs, it was always Luffy's to-take.

No they weren't, fuck off. The fanbase always thought that Luffy's fruit was shit, but he made very creative use of it, enabling it to surpass better fruits like Enel's or Crocodile's. Of course this changed after New World as Luffy started to do some bullshit with his fruit. I never liked Gear 4.

But the problem isn't his new powers, those are fine. The problem is the plotholes that arise with the ridiculous premise that Luffy's fruit has been sought by the WG for over 800 years, and yet the WG never sent anyone strong after Luffy (only pathetic jobbers)
