Obviously a romhack buff, but Polished Crystal makes it worth filling out the Unown dex, you get a bit of expanded plot into a cameo fight.

It was pretty cool since it was among the longest pieces of wilderness. Usually there's a town or pokemon center checkered about, but here you have to endure. Not like it was a treacherous area.
It was also a very cool feeling cause of the weather and all the foliage and life.

Although the route is almost over by the time you reach it, you can sleep in the bed at the Weather Institute (heal you for clearing it out and the impending rival right).
