In part what Personaly I like it. The whole Zanzibart thing was meant to be criticism of From's narrative style, but I actually think it's a good thing. Games in the 2000's decade just had extremely cinmeatic storylines that were player-centric and riddled you with exposition, which is just not very realistic. From games instead have a lot of mystery and attention to detail that is not necessary for the player to complete the game, it's just there for those that care.
So I see the Zanzibart thing as a mark of pride for From. Specially after the faggot that made the joke in the first place ended up writing for THIS shit.
Essentially, Western devs have been mogged extremely hard by Japanese devs, and Zanzibart is their cope.

It’s actually really brilliant to do what From does, because it’s a form of storytelling that can ONLY be done via an interactive medium. You can’t tell a story that way in a movie or book or anything else, because those formats can only ever show the audience exactly what they’re supposed to be shown. You can’t really “discover” things in a movie, the camera has to show you those things. You can miss their implications but not their presentation. From’s style of worldbuilding is a unique storytelling format that only vidya can accomplish and that’s a really cool thing.

That said, we all remember laughing in surprise at Armored Warrior screaming ROBERTOOOOOOOOOO before we understood it and “Zanzibart… forgive me” captures that feeling perfectly in a funny way.
