What were they even thinking with GFWL, pretty much every single person who used it hated it.

renting games with disc that are scratched the fuck up

Fiddling with sound card settings and other shit

They were thinking that they could force Windows users into being sucked into console cancer.
They only had to wait a few more years.

I don't like GFWL but I can deal with it.

>this killed lost planet multiplayer and dark souls
god, even playing single player with this was a nightmare since it wouldn't install itself sometimes and you would have to download it separately

i never had issues with GFWL except with Halo 2 not detecting my saves after re-installing windows

Fucking THIS
Especially with regards to the PSP and Vita, I remember getting the former for Christmas and having to wait til the 27th to actually save in any of my games.

I went for about a month playing the first hour or so of Metroid Prime over and over again because I didn't get a memory card with my Gamecube.

>buy the 64 vita card like a good goy
>it corrupts on me twice
>lose my 70 hour persona save because the vita didn't automatically cloud save even though the fucking ps3 does

gfwl was ironically better than the windoes store/xbox app by almost every metric.
For starters, the Xbox App tracks EVERYb SINGLE FUCKING GAME YOU PLAY, doesn't matter if it's from steam, originz or a cracked copy.

That fucking autistic spaz that would freak out about blowing into the cartridge.

Remember the push to intentionally hamper PC ports as badly as they can so people instead buy their garbage consoles instead, despite also owning windows and profitting from it?

This, mostly for the PSP

>the Xbox App tracks EVERYb SINGLE FUCKING GAME YOU PLAY
I think that depends on where it's installed. I have a few GoG games that I just install wherever that aren't picked up.

not having a wiki available to look up item locations, guides, & strategies, was the only reason i spent so much time playing games when i was younger

games in general are way easier now

The main problem with GFWL was that it had nonexistent cheat protection, as this was back before anticheat middleware when games were expected to do that shit themselves. It was still a great showcase as to how even back then, the vast majority of players were incapable of gitting gud/countering a shotel

The horrible bloom era
We still have some bad uses of bloom, motion blur and that eye cancer CA but at least most devs understood that the game visuals being clear is essential
Unless you're the devs to Jack's game that is

i remember they tried to put xbl gold service on pc with gears of war but pirate chads were easily able to play on official servers for free

I miss GFWL. Everyone on Steam is a faggot with comments turned off, so there is no hatemail.

always forgot to bring this to sleepover

DRM like Starforce which can brick your PC

GfWL was peak sovl. Only brainlets hated it.

needing to have disc injected to play
I installed the crack even when I bought the game, though some games required unmodified exec to update the game

oh noes is that a useless game related software, oh the horror, better launch my Steam(TM) and play some rented games
