i gave up
its too hard

I keep destroying my hardware

I think I’ve finally figured it out

I’m going to grow tobacco instead

H-help me develop an engine my bros. I want to be accepted in /gamedev/ so I must roll my own. How long will it take?

Don't reinvent the wheel

Making an engine isn't hard technically, it's hard because you need herculean motivation and self restraint so you can get yourself to make all the features and not give in to the urge to rewrite and restart everything all the time.

If you have that, then making your own engine isn't a big deal. If you don't have that, then you'll be stuck rewriting engines forever.

I just want a sprite engine so I can make my 2d fighter, like the one they use in MUGEN. How long will this take me?

I'm making a platformer, it's going well. We're making it because the idea sounded hilarious. Just recently we added water controls. It feels pretty good, it works kinda like in Ray Man or Tropical Freeze where you just point the D-Pad to where you wanna swim and can mash jump to swim faster.

Recently we found a neat bug where the player would get stretched out if they ran out of time underwater. That looked pretty funny.

>sprite engine
You can set up SDL in an hour.

is there an easy way to create trimm sheets (from allready made textures), or do i have to just stitch them all together in gimp fro each channel ?
