the worst nu-megaten game
Based. Fuck nostalgiafags.
The popularity of Persona 5 and subsequently SMT 5 has brought in enough people who needlessly spout their contrarian nonsense regarding Nocturne
You don't see personafags shit on Strange Journey, Digital Devil Saga, Devil Survivor or pre-Nocturne games because they aren't as well known and they don't feel the same justification to push it down to make Persona 5 look "better" in comparison despite both games being solid as fuck
Not this piece of shit. They both have god-awful writing but at the very least Nocturne has the decency to keep it to a minimum.
persona 5 is not a good game
Is DDS2 worth playing? I finished the first one and it was okay but I really missed fusing my own demons.
Nocturne has always been heavily overrated because it's baby's first SMT and it's """hard""" (despite there being no difficulty after matador/dante)
SJ, 4, and 5 are better
how's the remaster?
nah, games like persona 3 and nocturne were pretty overhyped by each respective fanbase. At the very least, nocturne is still a good game despite Strange Journey, 4, 5 and 1 are better, persona 3 is straight up shit and is significantly worse compared to 1, 2ISEP, 4 and 5 but faggots still sucks its' dick
The dreamy atmosphere of this game is still unsurpassed. They took the first minute of SMT I and made it into a full game.
I'm always afraid to start playing SMT and finding out they're busywork like Digital Devil Saga
bait
Remaster or PS2 version emulated?
Not even the best JRPG on its console.
It's easier for new players to get into than older SMT's, but I personally had a much better time with SMT1 and 2 than I did Nocturne. In fact I'd say Nocturne's the only SMT I've finished so far that's had me like "fuck when's this gunna be over" when I played through it. It's not a bad game by any means but it didn't captivate me like 1, 2, and Strange Journey did.
Wish someone would make a hard mode mod for SMT1 that makes you use status aliments that aren't nerve bullets or Zio more, but without inflating HP pools and store prices.
>it's baby's first SMT
That would be IV
>(despite there being no difficulty after matador/dante)
False since getting in a battle with the wrong magatama can equal death at any point in the game, though it's true that it gets easier past Dante.
The PS2 version has random skill inheritance which is an absolute cancer, but on the other hand I don't like the remaster's lighting system. It's up to you.
>finished the first one and it was okay but I really missed fusing my own demons.
DDS2 it's not going to fix that, DDS2 is literally DDS Part 2 as it was originally going to be a single game before being split apart and DDS2 being sold a few months after DDS1. So no fusing demons or any of that shit. I would say still play it just to finish the story
cope
I prefer the PS2 version, but the remaster has some QoL improvements, mainly being able to choose your fusion skills and the choice of having raidou as the extra character
Incredible art direction and vision. You just don't get games with this much love and care poured into them anymore, especially from Atlus. It's even more impressive when you consider it was released a decade after II and the series had to be modernized in a completely new industry landscape. Nocturne is THE Megaten game and the fact that almost every game in the franchise takes so much from it since it released is undeniable proof.
