Does anyone else fucking hate how they make it impossible to heal? It was never this bad in any of the other games. They literally punish you if you try to fucking heal during a boss fight. And it's not like a one hit stun that stops your healing, if you try to heal at all you put yourself in line for a 5 hit unblockable combo which instantly kills you.

It's such bullshit. The damage scaling is so busted as well that this happens for virtually ever boss fight regardless of your level.

Yeah it does piss me off. Other bosses in Souls games always had a "heal punishing" move but it didn't always come out. On ER it's 100% guaranteed that the boss will do a heal punisher as soon as you press the button to sip. You just have to use attack windows to heal instead.

Most times you're trying to heal and backing off, and you're being punished for it. You need to find an opening in their pattern and use that to heal, not hold back and mash square

>Asking you to play smarter than previous Souls games
Oh the humanity.

just only heal after dodging a string or being being a pillar or 2 kilometers away from the boss, it's totally normal and fair that they mind read you and instapunish 100% of your heals lol

Difference is the heal animation in pre-DS3 games was much longer so doing it when you didn't have an opening would still get you punished more often than not.

You just have to break out of the habit of backing off and healing, and only heal after dodging an attack. It sucks, but it's what you gotta do.

It makes sense that the boss takes advantage of you while you're vulnerable though. What really pisses me off, though, is the blatant input reading. These fuckers have an attack perfectly lined up the frame you press the flask button. It doesn't feel like they're taking an opportunity to attack while you're distracted, it feels like they can see the fucking future.

Yeah the input reading in ER is egregious and demonstrable as such easily. Like that webm of the guy fighting the Night Cavalry on a bridge where he's standing on the branch of a nearby tree. It's completely immobile staring at him try to use items he doesn't have, then the moment he flasks its ATTACK ATTACK AI kicks in to the point it kills itself by glitching off the ledge because he's spamming the flask.

Crucible will always instantaneously use the tail swipe after he lands if he detects any input from you in the moments surrounding him touching the ground. If not, he does not swipe. I'm 99% sure he literally never swipes without detecting your adjacent action, and if he does it's like a 10ms or less response to your input

I don't see how getting punished for spamming or panicking is poor game design, like so many of you claim. Feels like whining after getting away with being shit in earlier From games.

>B-but they have an advantage over you!!!

Not if you don't play like a dumbass. Look for openings to heal, like you would look for openings to attack. It's not bad game design just because they ask you to use your fucking brain, you braindead zoomer.

Legitimately just run away, eventually the boss will stop chasing you and you'll be safe to heal. The only fight this doesn't apply to is Godskin Duo, but you just have to find an opening or take advantage of pillars.

I think input reading might be a practical necessity, otherwise the calculations would be too complicated, but they were definitely sloppy. There should have been a small delay. Also should have checked if the player is actually looking at the enemy when firing projectiles at them.

damn you suck you cant even heal correctly lmao, this is the first souls that i didnt max out estus by the end, healing with flasks should be the least of your worries even with spastic enemies

You've got an easy mode user, use it or git gud.

> Make game as fast as Bloodborne or nioh
> Healing animations is 4 times slower than in those games
Bravo fromsoftware (this is also true for Sekiro)

I must be playing a different game. I only get punishment for healing if I do it stupidly and in a panic.

>Take a hit
>Panic roll backwards three times during the enemy's recovery
>Hit flask button right as he's starting the next attack
>Get hit again
So unfair. Why did everybody keep asking if I'm retarded?

I’ll explain the input reading issue for you
the operative phrase is
>right as he’s starting his next attack
which is happening by design rather than coincidence. The reason people are griping about this is because it turns the game into an unintuitive experience where you have to learn which openings are real and which only look like the end of a combo or a safe time to heal, and you learn by pressing a button and watching an enemy go apeshit when it didn’t do anything the last 5 times you dodged and didn’t attack/heal

did you try walking away from the boss first lmao

>bro just wait until the boss finishes his combo to heal!
>wait until boss finishes combo
>presses estus button
>boss suddenly remembers it can chain 1 extra move on the end of that combo

Or maybe stop panic rolling like a casual and git gud. The input reading is designed to punish shitters like you who think the flask is an oh shit button and not another tool to use properly.
