collectors will never not be cringe

Steam categories. Mine are by genre, loosely.

Collections shouldn't be displayed. They should be hidden in the back of a drawer shamefully

This is the way.

You get multiple bookshelves.

The best way is to protect them from light and dust.

You can always try making your own shelves. Go to a hardware store and pickup some woods and nail them together.

simply purchase a nice billy from ikea

I use blackout curtains to prevent sunlight from getting into my living room, so the only light present is artificial. If any light-bleaching occurs at this point, it's so microscopic that I'll never notice. I also keep most of my games in re-sealable bags to prevent oxidation, shelf wear, and dust. ( here)

I have mine by franchise, genre, years of release and sometimes even developer. I'm autistic with categorization.

I just do mine my platform and then alphabetically. (e.g. Gamecube -> Wii, OG Xbox -> 360, or PS2 -> PS3 -> PS4, in that order) It's only a tad jarring when a sequel alphabetically comes before an earlier game in the series. Guilty Gear Strive before Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, for example.

I know that feeling and I hate it. One example for me is pic related with NOLF.

The fuck am I looking at? (I recognize Oni... Thought it was an okay game for its time)

Was showing a part of my Steam library. The first NOLF game is technically The Operative: No One Lives Forever while the sequel is No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way. That fucks up the placement and puts ONI smack dab in the middle. I could change the first one to simply No One Lives Forever, but as I said, I'm autistic with categorization.

Now I get it. Man, that would bug the hell out of me. ( here) Already confusing enough with the DoDonPachi games on 360 being out of release order due to that.

>everything is wrapped in plastic
>except the NES carts
You remind me of those moms that buy a couch and then put a plastic slip cover over it to 'protect' it.

Go to a real hardware or furniture store if you want to buy real furniture. Walmart and Amazon aren't the best places to buy everything.

Only takes a few seconds to take a game out of a bag to play it / put it back in when I'm done.

Why not just use a bin shelving system, or pull-out drawers?

no good way sell all this shit and find a wife

I'm just used to keeping my stuff in bookshelves. The minor inconvenience of un-bagging/ re-bagging doesn't bother me.
Listen not to these folks, OP. They've become lost in their own insecurities.
