My favorite April fools gimmick was the Google+ one.

It sucked because it wasn't even actually showing how many canadians there were. It just marked people randomly as canadian. I got moved to /qb/ on two separate occassions even though I live in europe. Not only that, but reporting was shitty since it didn't actually get any "canadians" kicked out, it only marked you (the voter) as a "canadian".
Knowing them, this year's april fools event is going to be some lame shit like "every post has a button on them that changes the text color on said post for everyone, and each person can press it once"

2016 was a parody of social media where anons got random user names and people could upvote their posts
2017 was the board merger where Any Forums merged with Any Forums and Any Forums learned the magic of friendship with /mlp/
2018 was about getting asigned randomly into Mini/Peep/Chocolate/Creme/Peanut Butter teams and they had to discover how to earn points in order to win.
2019 was about getting points to buy the ability to put emojis and spooky skeletons in their posts
2020 was the coof, you could make green posts and the post name got corrupted as you got sicker
2021 was the day of the rake where you could report others for being Canadian
