The peak of the series is 2 with 1 very close. Three is movie game garbage.
Max Payne 3 fans get absolutely buttfucked when you mention how this game has no variety with any of the gameplay sequences because the game automatically equips weapons for you and teleports you to locations after cutscenes because its a very linear game based around spectacle

I don't think the setting is strong enough, but it's not bad. There are certain segments that are just awful. Like the entire boat dock segment, the boat chase segment. The best part of 1 and 2 was that the settings and atmosphere were so strong that you didn't even care that you were killing the same 10 guys over and over or doing the same slow mo flips over and over, in 3 there's definitely periods of gameplay where you start almost feeling that fatigue because the atmosphere isn't strong enough to carry the gameplay. At least imo.
