How do you guys decide what to play? It's impossible, even as a neet to keep up. I heard someone on a podcast casually mention how they beat Triangle Strategy in a week and it took them 55 hours. Like where do people find the motivation to just demolish a game of that length like that? I mean if I was hyped beyond belief for a release I probably could, but who is that excited for a throw away ip from Square? Just since the start of the year:
>Elden Ring and subsequent playthroughs >Kirby >Ghostwire >Persona 4 Arena Ultimate >Strangers of Paradise >Rune Factory 5 >Triangle Strategy >Horizon >Gran Turismo 7
Not even to mention my backlog, lengthy rpgs and visual novels, impulsively revisiting old favorite games, ect. Do I just need to get a job and let that regulate my time playing vidya? When I used to work I barely had the energy to play anything. Should I just stop pirating and emulating stuff? It makes it way too easy to get overwhelmed when you can play literally everything.
gotta pick your battles user it seems obvious, but exercising regularly helps get you out of this ennui

>if most games are shit I dont feel this way, maybe I just dont have standards but if you dont limit yourself theres so many amazing games coming out >and most of your favorite franchises are dead this is true
>gotta pick your battles user ive been doing this and its still overwhelmimg, Im disregarding plenty of games intentionally

For me it's even worse, i come from work tired and started to play gacha. So I come in do dailies, shitpost with other players and move on, it's been 3 months since i started god of war and I'm still halfway thought. Stay away from gacha

I've played videogames for most of my life and from my perspective there's almost nothing fresh and cool coming out, it's either generic AAA garbage or underfunded indie games (with the rare AA game like Dying Light 2, which I've yet to play), I've been stuck playing games that are years old because they're classics that I enjoyed before.
Lucas Williams
You're just burned of playing new stuff, industry has changed as a whole with way more shit games but if you look good enough you will find some hidden gems outside indie
Cameron Jenkins
>rare AA game like Dying Light 2 if you think Dying Light is rare or AA youre retarded and you probably haven't even scratched the surface of what games have to offer lmao. Seriously tell me your favorite game from every genre. I bet you play first person shooters and the occasional third person action game or rpg.

This year alone, I spent 145 hours in Elden Ring. And about 100 hours in Pokemon Arceus.
Ehhhh. I think you gotta be a bit more picky about what you want to play. To be honest, I have zero interest in any of these. I went back to my Stardew Valley farm and reading VNs after Elden was done. Sometimes I just lie down and stare at the ceiling because I have too much free time and I’m bored. I still work 40 hours a week…

I barely find a single game to play. All of these besides for Elden Ring look bad or aren't my type of game (TS, RF5, Kirby, GT7). I'm happy I get to play games at all nowadays. When's the last time a proper sandbox rpg, any kind of good rpg, finished simulation game got released? There's one of these every year or every few years.

Non-neet having too much time. You're also maidenless, huh?

Here's my thought process for all these games, its easier to find reasons to want to play them than reasons to drop/ignore them.
>>Kirby Never tried a Kirby game and my sister loves them, Im immediately interested in it now that it's gone 3d and has a post apoc setting. >>Ghostwire To unique to pass up and I wanna walk around virutal Japan. I love the evil within games. >>Persona 4 Arena Ultimate Love persona, recently been getting into fighting games like GG, Blazblu and melty blood so I decided to keep the train rolling. >>Strangers of Paradise Was gonna pass this but the combat is fun and being able to play dark knight and dragoon in an action game is awesome. >>Rune Factory 5 Might leave this on the back burner, but I love comfy games. >>Triangle Strategy Might leave this on the back burner because I'd rather just wait for a proper FF tactics release. >>Horizon >>Gran Turismo 7 Spent too much money on these to drop them, but GT7 is great aside from microtransactions. HFW is just okay, only bought it to kill time for Elden Ring and justify my ps5.

Limit yourself to buying no more than (1) physical game a month and it'll solve your choice paralysis problem.
I used to pirate games, but I had so many that I didn't know what to play, so I never really ended up playing any or only played them briefly.
I've been playing Underrail aplenty in the last nearly 2 months, it's a simple life Techland is not owned by any corporate giant like Microsoft, EA, Square Enix, Activision, Sony etc., probably one of the largest independent studios out there alongside CDPR, which is why I call it AA. Quite a lot of budget and AAA-level graphics but not the sort that is made purely for money, even if they have quite the corporate-feeling structure. Kind of hard to play favorites but I'd say... >City builder: Simcity 2004 >RPG: Underrail or New Vegas, I can't really decide, I also really liked Fable >4x: Civilization 5 >Space 4x: Endless Space 2 >Action: Sleeping Dogs or Yakuza 0 >Multiplayer: I played thousands of hours of TF2 but all the magic's gone after so many bad updates, so I'd say my favorite is Deep Rock Galactic >Shooter: I can't really think of anything other than Far Cry 3, at least for its memorable moments, although if Prey 2017 is considered a shooter then replace FC3 with it >Stealth: Dishonored, or more like "stealth", it's no Thief but it's a really nice game anyway >RTS: Red Alert 3 (I am sorry) or Age of Mythology, I cannot really choose >Roguelike: I haven't gotten into any >Roguelite: Noita, if it fits the bill >Puzzle: Baba is You was pretty nice but I did not play much of it >Misc: E.Y.E. >Metroidvania: Hollow Knight I cannot really think of more genres at this hour, I have slept less than 5 hours and it has been 14 hours since I woke up, I will promptly go to bed. My list of favorite games sounds trashy and maybe it's because I haven't really thought about what my favorites based on genre are, but please do not imply that I do not play games.

The same goes for reading btw. if any lit-fags are in this thread. And for anything else, actually. If something is bad though and you're actually not enjoying it, you can do something else.

try mmo's, fighting games, visual novels, jrpgs, racing games. PC gaming will make you joyless.
Levi Foster
Racing games and fighting games are far from my strong point, I have enjoyed the visual novel Disco Elysium >MMOs You talk about PC gaming making me joyless but then suggest something that sucks my soul! ASSFAGGOTS were enough. I do have a console with both racing games and fighting games though, but it's one that was cracked and thus cannot play online. Second world economy tends to do that.
Ayden Bennett
Most of the games I was planning on playing through I wasn't that interested in. I used to be concerned about broadening my taste in vidya but there really is so much time for this shit. I just stick with shorter games and the things I'm already interested in.
Hudson Scott
I've found as I get older I have to really force myself to make time for new games because if I just relax, I will end up replaying old favorites since I don't have to think as hard. But I usually do enjoy the new games once I get over the initial hurdle of forcing myself to learn something new. It's just one of those things like exercise that becomes tougher as you age, but you have to force yourself or it's only going to get worse faster. Mortality isn't fair.
Grayson Sanchez
Don't think about it too much. Just pick a game that interests you the most and go with it. Your goal is to not be a completionist that plays every game in existence, but one who plays games that are probably to your liking.
Gabriel Wilson
have standards op. look what happens to filthy slags who want to ride every dick on planet earth until they're in their 40s. you are just as foolish
Dylan Nguyen
>I have TOO MANY COMPUTER GAMES to choose from >I can't muster the MOTIVATION to play said video games >miserable_anime_girl.png My heart weeps for you OP. Is there anywhere I can donate to help you through this tragic period in your life? Please stay strong.
