People that played modded Warband for gorillions of hours thought Bannerlord was going to be the same experience at release. It was not. Even I'll admit, the launch was pretty bad. I played a few months ago and it was great, but Fian Champions are still OP.
So yeah, a very rough launch, that's what went wrong, but the game now is pretty good. There's currently 10k players, and it's been on the top 100 most played games on Steam since launch, which is impressive.
