Hard shadows > soft shadows

hard shadows > soft shadows

baked >> screen space >>> ray traced

just play cell shaded games

hardwood > softwood
hard taco shell > soft taco shell
hard cocks > soft cocks
Simple as

>far away mountains cast perfect shadows
>trees cast blurry shadows all over the ground

>shadows match the light source
what now?

this. imagine if every game looked this good.
BAKE EVERYTHING!

>oldest>> newer>>>> newest
boomers everyone

unpasteurized raw dough >> baked >> screen space >>> ray traced

Baked is still raytraced you idiots.

no shadows > shadows. I don't need those unnecessary fps drops. muh realism is shitty art direction anyways.

yeah but without the performance impact idiot

contact hardening shadows > non contact hardening shadows

There's hard AND soft shadows on all things at most times. What is the point of trying to make some sort of division here?

Real life has both

Just stop being poor.

soul vs soulless

even if you're rich you won't be running games anytime soon with the quality baking can achieve

normies>>fags>>>>trannies>OP

If you don't have day/night cycle or destructible/dynamic environments then you are wasting resources computing shadows and whatnot in real time

Issue is baking isn't dynamic. Those blinds look amazing how the light pass through then but if you move then, the magic is dead. I'll take real time ray tracing in a dynamic setting versus pre baked set pieces. The tech is only going to get better.

proper stylization > all else

it depends on the lightsource you retard, a point light should give a hard shadow while a diffused area on should give a soft shadow

gay cartoony shit. yakuza looks 10 times better

The fuck is this perspective lol

I'd say hard shadows ONLY work if the artstyle/setting for it works
And doom 3 is the only one I can think of

Graffiti-style extreme perspective distortion.

Is that what mental illness looks like?

Is there something wrong with me or does hard shadows look better?

baked > roasted > cooked

steamed > roasted > grilled

Enjoy your picture scene with no interactivity. Move one chair? Shadow is still there
Meanwhile in ray trace land you can destroy the entire scene and the lighting will not flinch
Sadly most devs are so retarded they force ray tracing into games that were already built with baking and screen space in mind, destroying performance for literally no reason
