Prices set expectations. If the game looks like a budget game, which it definitely is, it should be sold at an appropriate price. What it looks like happened to me is they tried to fleece the japanese audience by charging full price for a niche game with low investment into the development, counting on the small but dedicated fanbase paying a high price to make up for low expected volumes. When that didn't work, they thought they'd get the western audience by listening to xseed who've been begging for gay marriage for a while thinking the white devils value that enough to make up for the core issues of the game.

I don't know if that's true or not but it looks that way to me. I would be upset, but understandable if the game was sold as a budget price instead but when you charge full price you're asking me to compare this to stuff like Elden Ring and Witcher 3 and everything like that. My fanboyism can only carry me so far.

I think what they need to do is go back to the simple, less resource intensive style of Rf4 and perfect that. You can't make a 3d game unless you're ready to invest heavily into it, and marvelous clearly is not. I'd buy a new RF5 that's just a reskin of 4, I'd buy a modern remake of RF3. I'm willing to shell out more money for my niche than it deserves, but I'm not a pokemon fan, I have some self respect.

That wasn't planned paid DLC though, honestly listening to the audio files and XSEED recording female player and livia romance make me believe it happening, those files were even in the latest update 1.1 when they weren't in the localized version of 1.0
