What's the point of having other people beat the game for you while you sit all the way back doing nothing?
I see this happening way too often where the host just re-summons their friends indefinitely until they "win", while the phantoms have full endgame gear and instant-bleed builds. Is that fun for them?
I know the the memes saying if you used X weapon you didn't beat the game or if you used the NPC ghosts you didn't beat the game, but that is miles better than literally not beating the game, since your friends did it for you.

but theyre not playing, theyre watching others play it. the people who summon tend to also be the ones looking up where to find gear and essentially go out of there way to ensure they dont have to play the game. you cant say they are enjoying it if they are going to such means to avoid engaging with it

There's your answer. Anything can be fun with friends. You can probably imagine the three of them in that video are probably chatting it up on discord or some shit, see an invader and tell the host to go hide, one tries to kill the boss quickly, the other tries to hold off the invader, the host looks like a retard so either underage/casual/gurl, end up losing, one of them probably say man fuck that twink asshole, don't worry about it we'll try that boss again then go about their day.
For them it's less about the game itself and just hanging out with friends and having fun together in their own way.
