It baffles me that any of you think it's okay to "watch a game". Fuck off. That's normalnigger behavior. You will never get the full experience of a video game by just watching the cutscenes, never. It is impossible. It will give you a skewed perception and warp the emotional weight of the story. Do not let me catch you doing some dumbass shit like "watching" MGS4 when you can just download it and play it in an emulator if you're so interested, or any other game that you can just easily play whenever you want.

I just wanted to watch The Batman, Robert.

Can I just get my ticket, please?

>where's you cinema partner?

Are you the same guy who threw a tantrum at people not wanting to play Mario 64? If so, kill yourself. If not, kill yourself.

What if the game is really old and clunky/buggy af but it still has an interesting story? Thinking about rule of rose. Also
>just watching the cutscenes
Nope, no commentary walkthrough by actually skilled players is the way to go

I prefer games with as close to 0 cutscenes as possible. Something like Perfect Dark 64 is the absolute maximum for me. Just enough to contextualize the action, and provide an opening/closing to the level.

Something closer to Duke Nukem 3d is better -- about 10 seconds of cutscenes across the entire game, and yet it still "tells a story".

If a game isn't 99% gameplay I drop it. I tried watching streamers once and it was supremely boring. If I wanted passive entertainment I'd watch television.

what games that nigger play?

Are you the failed normalfag who would rather be doing anything else but play video games but still insists on posting on the Any Forums - video games board? If so, kill yourself, if not, kill yourself.

I just wanted some popcorn, Robert.

lmao you are so mad
Are you gonna scream about "normies not respecting the history and artistry of videogames" again?

Games can be story-based and still be highly interactive - something like a western CRPG for example. Or Ghost Trick.

Robert thread? Robert thread!
Hey, don't speak like that to Robert! He's a friend and he just wants you to be happy!
Here you go!

>failed the penis inspection

It's over, bros.

Sorry user, no can do! Tonight's a big night it's the release of The Joker! My higherups don't want anything bad to happen so they want couples only. In my opinion, I think it'll be safer for you to stay home today anyways!

I don't care lol i watched all MGS cutscenes while at work, i don't care about your artificial standards

Robert threads were unironically the best part of Any Forums. I miss this nakama

You're right I wouldn't understand the absolutely nonsensical thought that you can know for a fact that Super Mario 64, a game based entirely on the feeling of moving your character with a controller, is a bad game based on some Youtube video.

>What if the game is really old and clunky/buggy
if the game is old and/or buggy surely someone has made patches for the bugs and updated the game for modern hardware and if the game is "clunky" just deal with it if you Really wanted to play said game otherwise don't bother

You play the game, or at least try it.
I really liked Drakengard and Drakengard 3 and I WOULD NOT have enjoyed it as much had I simply watched the cutscenes. It is meant to be presented as a video game and the gameplay is essential.

That's great and all, but TLOU 2 is a movie and not a game.

Where are my crab legs, robert?

I wouldn't play TLOU2 regardless, but if the story is the worst part, why would you subject yourself to watching it anyway?
The gameplay looks fine, if a bit basic, but with some cool gore effects. If I were to play it that would be the only thing I'd play it for

Snow crab or king crab? Oh who am I kidding, you're a connoisseur! Here, have this bucket on me! To our favorite patron!

I don't understand why you're asking this.

Mgs4 was crummy all around. Did it always have that weird interview with Hayter at the start? Whatta douche he is, no wonder Kojima couldn’t stand him.

That's in-universe television, meant to bring you more into the world. It's not a straight interview. Also the clip they play is randomized from a few different options.

What about visual novels?

VNs are so shit to watch, it's basically the same experience except
A. You don't control the text speed
and
B. You don't control the choices
So what purpose would you have to not simply just play it yourself?
