Dude, GTA III is piss easy unless you're going for 100% completion. The only legitimately hard parts of that game are the side missions where you have to drive through a bunch of checkpoints on time using really shitty cars on bumpy terrain.

The city is small enough to learn it inside out and have the minimap in your head. Same with VC & San Andreas.

Was VC bigger than LC? Never got around to play GTA 3 more than 10 minutes at the release.

I beat it on original hardware and no cheats less than 3 months ago.

Unless "legitimately hard" rules out all the hitscan enemies with perfect accuracy in every other mission, GTA III is by far the hardest in the 3D era.
