Everytime I see one of this threads I download an emulator and Ring of Red

I never played Radiata. Worth emulating?

Forgotten gems? Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2. Some of the best JRPG action out there. Shin Megami Tensei in general is great, but these games need more love.

Might be my nostalgiagoggles talking, but Radiata Stories has beautiful timeless graphics, full voice acting back when it wasn't ubiquitous, fun characters, fun real-time battle system, and great soundtrack.

Absolutely. Still cant believe its never been sold digitally on newer consoles.

Combat is pretty simple but the story is great and it has something like 150+ different characters you can recruit to your party. Story branches around 70% of the way into the game with separate storylines too.

Oh damn, that's a lot of characters. The only RPGs that I played with a ton of characters were the Suikoden games, which are awesome. The only thing I dislike about that is eventually most are useless, so there's little point in recruiting all or even most of them.

Does recruiting characters also unlock other things in the game?

ring of red sucks
slow as molasses so you sure as fuck need an emulator to speed it up, constant dumb as shit "here's some extra enemies out of nowhere" situations and serious lack of mech customization

yes

Radiata Stories Emulation settings:
- Right as the game is loading hold triangle and X to enable 16:9 progressive scan. This is very important even if you're playing it on a console.
- Enabling MTVU in speed hacks gives a big speed up.
- Disable DOF

The worst part is the combat but it's fine.

>gems
>op posts shit
???

I cant recall completely but I believe there are rewards/access to certain abilities for recruiting particular characters or gaining all of them.

Radiata Stories is a genuine hidden gem and one of my favorite games of all time
>Does recruiting characters also unlock other things in the game?
been a while since I played but IIRC certain recruited characters unlock new moves, weapons and armor, secret characters etc.

ridley is cute. CUTE!

It's not about them being useful, it's just fun making friends with NPCs. You also do have to unlock some for some of the best party members too.

you did date best girl right Any Forums?

Kicking random NPC's in the ankle and getting bodied was never more fun. Radiator Stories was good.

The combat is more than just a little bad, it's baffling that tri-Ace made something that boring.

I love this game
