>plain nothing going for it sword you start with at character creation screen >fast swings, low stamina cost to swing, good range, easy to hit enemies >weights very little >110 damage per swing
>mid-game weapon, somewhat rare >massive hulking sword, taller than the character is >takes ages to swing, requiring a more slow and delibrete attack strategy. much harder to sneak in an attack >high stamina cost to swing >range is barely better >difficult to hit enemies that move a lot, since by the end of your swing they might have moved past it's range >very, very high weight, drastically reducing either your roll's or your armour's effectiveness >significantly slower when held in 1 hand on top of this, almost forcing you into not using a shield either >159 damage per swing
People bitch and cry about Sawyer's "obsession" with balance but this is the kind of shit that happens when you don't have anyone like him on your team.
ur dumb weapons are about different move sets if you want it to do more damage you upgrade it

Yea and I just explained the moveset in the post? Also some weapons have the same moveset between them, like the ice sword that drops from thag knight that moves like a dog that you go down that one elevator for, his sword has the same moveset as the longsword

>what is weapon scaling Makes me lol when shitters try to take a crap on Souls games without even understanding the mechanics
Ethan Cox
I feel like Elden Ring improved on this a lot with the introduction of posture/stance, so heavy weapons can stance break and critical a lot more often with precise play than light weapons.

Infusions make default weapon scaling nearly irrelevant plus it only kicks in like 4/5ths into the game because the rest of the time it's objectively better to just have a raw gem on

And critical hits literally deal less damage than just hitting the mob while it's staggered
