Assassin's Creed Odyssey

>picked up a 2nd handed copy for an extremely cheap price
>tried it out
>it's actually a competently made action-RPG
It's more RPG than most RPG I have played in years desu.
I am only at the part where I collect the wolf bounty from Elpenor and there were already so many choices with tangible consequences.

I am quite surprised.

it's pretty decent game

You did pick the best protagonist, right?

Its unironically a fuck ton better than Elden Ring. It can be annoying to have to grind for levels at some parts but still nowhere near the level of bullshit like Elden Ring.

its ok but egypt setting was way better

>that sand

Trust me, you'll get bored of the game once you hit the four hour mark. The map is empty and the game itself is just so goddamn repetitive/grindy.

I’m trying to get through origins so I can get to this and Valhalla.

It’s a bit of a slog because I don’t like the characters aside from bayek.

It's fun but too big desu

After 40 hours or so it's getting stale despite the neat world and decent combat. Also the story is cringe, god I fucking hate that sci fi asscreed "it's all a simulation bro" shit

I enjoyed it all, explored everything, and did all the side stuff that wasn't stupid

There are choices in AC games?

I really enjoyed this after hearing bad things about it for the first couple of years that it was out. I didn't think it was a particularly good RPG but the world was great and it was a fun adventure with a good gear system and gameplay.

Asscreed is the laziest of the lazy open world though. Climb a tower race a guy kill a guy collect some stuff in a timed area. Next area. Climb a tower race a guy kill a guy collect some stuff in a timed area. Next area. Climb a tower race a guy kill a guy collect some stuff in a timed area. Next area. Assassinate a guy. Climb a tower race a guy kill a guy collect some stuff in a timed area. Next area. Sometimes you get on a boat between areas!

All of the farcrys are the same way too. There isnt even exploration because the map has a giant GO HERE AND DO A THING flashing icon every 5 feet.

Apparently the dlc is better than the base game.

I have grown to love Bayek but then the game cucked him with the ending, lost all interest in DLCs because of the main game ending.
You can get Bayek as your ship crew in Odyssey though, I think he comes with Deluxe edition or something.
He will help you fight when you board other ships.

It’s a satisfying gameplay loop for some people.

Odyssey does, it's a blacksheep of AC from what I have heard. Barely have anything to do with the Assassin as well. It's pretty much just an ancient greek open-world game.

In this one, yes.

Yes. Branching dialogue options began with Odyssey. An npc might ask you something and you can choose how to respond to them. There's also romance options as well.
It's at this point where the AC series stopped giving a shit about stealth gameplay and turned into a basic open world wrpg.

>gameplay loop
tell me you are a ubishit shill without telling me

Reminder that Xbox series x runs the game at 60fps.

they always shill this because they want people to buy season passes

not a black sheep at all, origins, odyssey, and valhalla all put the assassins stuff on the backburner to instead be historical fantasy RPGs

The game with all dlc is like 30 bucks on Xbox right now.

not with that shoulder. lmao.

Well "history" isnt really that important when they are extra careful to appeal to whatever trend of the month twitter mob is crying about. Its not historical anymore if you just insert modern politics into a game. They want to be historical and appease the snowflakes. Its just silly.

Hello ui/ux designer

>"You can make dynamic choices that make your story unique"
>Decide to kill father
>All it does is lock you out of a bunch of side quests and force you into the bad end
I hate games that do this shit.
If you're going to give player choices don't just have the obvious good choice and the token "You COULD do this, I guess" choice with no effort behind it to let it open a new avenue to the story.
Why can't I take Kassandra down some evil or grey vengeful side path of cursing a revenge on Sparta.
Beside that, does anyone by the endgame mark try to be an assassin?
You could spend an hour sneaking around, taking out every guard one by one, or you could just get an axe and stack adrenaline gains and crit to kill three of them a second because its meter move is broken.

it's alternate history stuff. nothing to do with your twitter or whatever

>picked up for extremely cheap price
Your opinion on the quality of the game is kind of irrelevant in this circumstance desu
>it’s actually a competently made action RPG
With a host of actually terrible animations, copy paste content, grind and microtransactions, shitty acting and writing, boring gameplay that doesn’t fit the franchise, lore revisionism, and loot based rewards that don’t matter, I am reasonably obligated not to trust anything you say. That’s just the surface level of how shit this game is so you’re either a troglodyte retard or a shill.

I dunno man.

You can say the EXACT same things about Elden ring.

Its alternate history because if they did actual history twitter would cry about how women or different races are treated. You know in the settings where women and other races werent treated well in actual history. Gotta throw in some black dude marrying a white dude in front of an applauding audience in medieval france for whatever reason.
