Build engine games were never good and Ion Fury sucks
Doom and Quake are good but the rest are pretty fucking overrated.
Strife sucks, Half life sucks, the logical continuation of Doom and Quake is Deus Ex, Thief, portal, and System Shock in terms of storytelling and mechanics.
TF2, Quake live, Marathon, and Unreal were continuations of the FPS gameplay.
Halo, GoldenEye, and Perfect dark are also good.
