Game just works at launch and requires no patches or updates

>game just works at launch and requires no patches or updates
Why is this so rare?

that game would need the most brilliant devs, years of development without insane crunch and a fuck load of money

just don't patch. 99% of games work fine without. it's just placebo so customers feel like their purchase is being "supported"

fpbp

>decades behind schedule
>billions overbudget
astronomy outside of our solar system is a complete waste of time and money

I bet you were one of the fags that said it was going to not work.

no i was hoping it was going to explode on the pad actually

This is some closeminded shit right here. Imagine a hundred years ago if people just looked at the moon and went well no reason to research that we will never go there. People cant fly no reason to ever learn about trying to do it. People cant cross an ocean thats crazy.

Imagine being a half hundred years later and not going back.

>/sci/ still seethes about JWST being operational to this day
Based telescope

It's like being impressed that the F-35 will work after $1.7 trillion.

the difference is looking at the tiny ass specks a billion light years away does literally nothing
some of things we are looking at we can't even reach with FTL

jwst HAD to be perfect because there was no way to service the mf at L2. thats why it took so long and had its budget overblown to shit. games on the other hand have the internet to update and if your hardware was broken you could have it replaced or fixed easy.

NOOO I NEED MY PICTURES OF WHITE DOTS FOR REDDIT UPVOTES

>jwst HAD to be perfect because there was no way to service the mf at L2.
wrong
NASA at the time didn't have capability to service it, now they have several options

more like
>game is in development hell and delayed for 15+ years

Well it was delayed by like 10 year and took like 20 times the budget.

>game has snipers that you can't get away from

oh man what if this thing shows us some shit we were absolutely not expecting to see, something that makes us completely revaluate how we understand the universe and our own existence

I mean I don't think that would change that we'll still need to go buy more milk and a couple of days but it would be good for people to have something to fuckin talk about for a change

>Development began in 1996 for a launch that was initially planned for 2007 with a US$500 million budget

There isnt a huge reason to go back at the moment though. I mean what are we going to do there that we cant do in the ISS currently cheaper? The -only- reason we went there was to flex on the russians and gather a bit of basic science done.

Learning about other stars and planets helps immensely with our knowledge of how physics work. There are some things you will never know or learn without looking that far out. Its not about never going there its about finding weird and unique situations in the universe to learn from. You could find a system with two black holes trying to eat one another and learn more about how they work. Find stars ripping themselves apart to learn about whats going on inside them. See stars explode. Being born. You dont have to go there to learn from it and what you learn can have MAJOR effects on what we know and what we can do.

Nah /sci/ is secretly glad about JUUST space telescope working out.
What would get them really annoyed would be if SLS launched more than twice.

>he thinks we learn anything by looking
you do realize 99% of those pictures you see are artistic representations right?

Cool, my guesstimate kinda worked out.

>99% of those pictures you see are artistic representations
They aren't

SLS launching at all pisses me the fuck off

YOU'RE a complete waste of time and money

So, do you think they will reveal if they found alien life or nay? Reminder that everything we see from space is in the past. Its like aliens looking to earth and seeing dinosaurs

yeah it's pretty annoying, everything has to have a day 1 patch now

What is wrong with it? I'm not up to speed.

You do realize that those representations are based on complex analysis that someone could explain to you for weeks and not even begin to scratch the surface of whats going on. Besides everything from the hubble is an ACTUAL picture. The JW is more complicated than the hubble though and will give orders of magnitude more information than anyone has dreamed of having access to. It gathers much more than the visible spectrum of radiation.

ask me how I know you are non-white

>A delayed game is eventually good, a rushed game is bad forever.

>game trailer shows crazy game play mechanics
>they're actually in the game at launch and work

Why are you responding to obvious bait?
Sogay

anything astronomy related will have a massive payout just not anytime soon

The thing I'm most excited about are the radio telescopes planned for the far side of the moon

wrong
we will forget by the time it matters

This

I really want to weasel my way into the project somehow
