Too many bosses in Elden Ring are trying to copy Pontiff Sulyvahn. Sully was a great fight, but Elden Ring doesn't have anything that compares to Abyss Watchers or Champion Gundyr. It doesn't have anything as awful as Aldrich, though, and it even has better versions of some of the shittiest fights. Like how Rennala and Rykard are much better versions of Deacons of the Deep and Yhorm.

they've bought into the hype of their own difficulty while also exponentially running into the limits of how to make bosses more challenging within the Souls format. There's too few ways for them to escalate shit anymore without designing them around obscene combo attacks with tiny vulnerability windows or obnoxious duo permutations.
