Why did it sell so well when it has an awful library full of shovelware?

Fun

Wii Sports and Wii fit sold to casuals

It still had some good games in the sea of shovelware

it was casual, new and Nintendo was recognizable

Maybe because you’re a weebtard?

The price and the fact it was different than any other console at the time and was easy for retards to use.

Wii Sports and casuals, Wii console sales peaked early and declined every year past 2008.

The Wii library is pretty good though when you look past the trash. Not my favorite console or anything but I have like 2 shelves of Wii games I really like

it's foon!

It sold well initially then really fell off. The motion gimmick was novel for normalfags and casuals but once it wore off, people saw that it sucked

Punchout is better than any game on the Xbox 360 or PS3

Wii sports was fun for a few days and enough to fool everyone into buying the system.

>tfw I genuinely feel nostalgia for the Wii era now

It came out before smartphones so it got all the casuals.

Other way around. It got a lot of shovelware because of how well it sold.
Same with the PS2 to some extent.

but weebos loved zelda and xenoblade on Wii

>why did it sell so well when it has an awful library full of shovelware?
Because at the time people were sold on the idea of the console and motion controls.

And because the library isn't that bad excluding bargain bin shovelware.

>Mario Galaxy
>Mario Galaxy 2
>New Super Mario Bros Wii
>Twilight Princess
>Skyward Sword
>No More Heroes
>No More Heroes 2
>Sin & Punishment Star Successor
>Donkey Kong Country Returns
>Rayman Origins
>Goldeneye 007
>Mario Strikers Charged
>The House of The Dead 2 & 3
>Ghost Squad
>The Conduit
>The Conduit 2
>Red Steel 2
>Mad World
>Muramasa The Demon Blade
>Okami
>Rhythm Heaven

There's even more. I'm forgetting a lot of the stuff I have in my Wii collection but there's a lot of really great games on the system that people overlook because of the Wiis aura of waggle and casualness.

Systems that sell well always have shovelware in spades. The PS1, PS2, GBA, DS. Just take one elaborate look through of the Switch eShop.

>implying red steel 1 is good
w e w

Wii had a lot of secret greats, some of which I'm trying to pick up before everyone else figures it out.
>Tatsunoko vs Capcom
>Muramasa The Demon Blade
>Disaster: Day of Crisis
>Pandora's Tower
>Zack & Wiki
>Little King Story
For a console with a lot of trash, there were some great titles hiding on it.
