You can't do a full circle, clockwise?

fuck off payed shill, no one wants to pay for "remaked" pixels

when these games released, ATB was billed as a selling point, giving the games a slight difficulty by forcing you to act and think quickly.

nowadays, a system like ATB is just considered "cheating" on the behalf of the game. is it just because gamers got worse at games? Or are people so insecure that they can't stand the thought that they could do better if they thought faster?

>stand the thought that they could do better if they thought faster?
If you needed to think faster, you might as well make your game fully action rather than arbitrary turns.

This is the original version you absolute retard

but the turns aren't arbitrary! They are based on your stats!

These games have always had the option to switch it to wait mode which basically turns it back into a regular turn based game.

The game doesn't recognize diagonals so it's easy.

Why is it magical though?

Where's the mod that replaces every party member with Sabin?

when FF4-6 were released ATB was a newly possible system, and advertised as a selling point despite the option to disable it.

do be fair, the game doesnt register inputs as accurately as in a fighting game.
but of course, none of you guys actually played the game so you just assume its an easy input because its just a 360 motion.

Amano Celes or leotard Celes?

you dont even have to
there's an 'easy mode" for babies where you press left, left, up, up, right, right, down, down, left instead of doing the circle

It's not that hard on D-Pad. If you're emulating, just map D-Pad to a stick and rotate it clockwise starting from the left. You don't even have to do it quickly. This is a JRPG first and foremost and so each input can be done at your own pace. You don't have to stress over the frame sensitive inputs that proper fighting games have.

>is it just because gamers got worse at games?
Yes. Everyone wanted to move towards real-time effects on turn-based games in the past. Even the turn-based Ultima games started passing turns if you idled. People also used to play games with 20-40 units to control for turn-based battles, while people nowadays play turn-based games with 4-6 units yet still take twice as long to take turns. You could partially blame the dependence of games really embracing extreme RNG.

Any time I see someone taking 30 minute turns in a single-player game with few things to consider, I think about how many turns they'd get into a match of blitz chess before losing.
