It's not the GOAT because it's on PS. I wish it was on everything so more people could play it. I'm not tied to Sony I have multiple consoles.

I've been playing elden ring for a bit, never played any other souls games bc i only got into gaming recently.
What makes bloodborne different from the other releases? I saw some videos and the aesthetic looks neat, but what truly sets it apart?

Its more limited and there is less build variety so its a much more balanced game and yea the aesthetics are probably the best out of all of these games. The only downside is that itruns like shit.

1. The level layout is amazing. Top-tier shortcut porn unmatched in the series. Only thing that comes close is DS1.
2. Combat is fast and fluid by design. There are no shields, your dodge is quick and precise, and you parry with a fucking gun. Just feels good all around.
3. The setting and themes are pretty goddamn unique. There's a lot more going on than just the Victorian London surface level stuff.

I'm not an expert on the series, but I think the combat was a bit faster the bosses felt like a more satisfying challenge to beat.

Dark Souls has good world design but mediocre level design. Especially compared to Demon's Souls.

It has an actual story that isn't "defeat the 4 big bads to restore order again".
The mechanics are streamlined in a good way (no equip burden, 1 stat for magic, no shields so everyone has to git gud, only 1 weapon in every "class" but every class is completely unique instead of having 25 interchangeable longswords, consumable items are few in number but very powerful).
Parrying is actually useful on your first playthrough because you can learn the timing from a safe distance. Also, many enemies can be parried during their windup because it's an offensive action rather than defensive.
Rally fits perfectly with the fast paced scrappy combat, unlike 3 and ER where the enemies are lightning fast but your healing is finite.
The best OST in any Fromsoftware game, hands down.
Endlessly replayable dungeon mode that is more challenging than any NG+ and more varied than the Oblivion-tier dungeons of ER.
Outside of dungeons, it has the best set of bosses in the series.
