Though more blatant in higher difficulties, you can consider PoFV one giant game of misdirection, of sorts. Never stick in one side of the screen for too long, don't stick to the bottom only. You'll quickly notice that way that the bullet load is less overwhelming. Also, though you'll get better at gauging this over time, you want to refrain from using Level 2s until you absolutely need to, because it'll trigger a more or less lethal snowball effect. The advice mentioned above will help you for both survival in these situations as well as just regular play, but this is the gist of it.
Ideally, you want to come to Eiki with 4 lives. Round 1 Eiki is more or less unbeatable until you're that fucking good. Round 2 or 3 are manageable but unless your lucky star shines bright, you should be expecting at least a 3 minute long fight. Round 4 is where she starts jobbing, a 2:30 is in the realm of possible, and a real lucky run with a regular character might go under 2 minutes, on Normal that is.
Alternatively if you're a bitch, pick or , the AI gets confused around them and every fight from Round 6 onwards will have anywhere from 30 seconds to 1:30 shaved off depending on your luck.
Alternatively if you're slightly less of a bitch, you can try other characters that don't go through Aya or Komachi. Komachi is a big beginner hurdle because what she sends is very dense compared to every other character, and Aya, while not that hard, has a bitch of an AI that survives for way longer than she should consistently. Consider a character like Mystia, that instead gets to fight Medicine & Yuuka, which are more fun in Normal
