If anyone hasn't played FF1 and would like to experience it before this game comes out, seeing as it's a prequel to FF1, I've made a premodded package with FF1 Pixel Remaster with gameplay, visual and QoL enhancements.
FF1 is not a particularly long game and can be beaten in one day if someone is dedicated, or in 2-3 days with more laid back playstyle, I heavily recommend playing it if you haven't, in order to maximize the enjoyment of Jack's game afterwards.

Full list of changes:
- Gameplay mechanics are restored to how they were in the PSX version of FF1 as Pixel Remasters are drastically nerfed to be easier
- Improved Character Sprites, faithful to vanilla aesthetic but with more detail and better shading (alternate PSX and Record Keeper sprites also available)
- Sarah and Fairy sprites are more faithful to NES/PSX originals
- Warmech uses better sprite from PSP version
- Fiends use the better sprites from PSX version
- Chaos uses much better sprite from Brave Exvius
- Autobattle icon now only visible when it's actually turned on and not 24/7
- Menu no longer interrupts world map and dungeon music
- Mountains tileset improved
- Battle backgrounds are colour adjusted to no longer be overly bright
- Font replaced by better pixelated one based on the original PSX version
- Button icons replaced by more fitting pixelated designs based on PlayStation buttons (alternate options for different gamepads also available)
- Damage numbers now have better outline
- Framerate cap raised from 59 to 240
Additionally, following QoL options are now available:
Press F1 (Toggle) to speed up the game, holding the button speeds the game up even more
Press F2 (Toggle) to turn off random encounters
Press Caps Lock (Toggle) to highlight interactive objects
Press F5 to Quick Save
Press F9 to Quick Load
May update again in future, but for now I consider this complete and ready to play, enjoy!
Also, we've finished the mini-addon that restores the original Beholder design.
For those that don't know, Yoshitaka Amano drew a Beholder for Final Fantasy 1 which was used as a boss in the original Japanese NES release.
In western NES release of the game, Beholder was replaced by "Evil Eye" drawn by Nintendo of America as they were afraid of being sued by Dungeons & Dragons.
In all later versions of the game, including Japanese, they used Nintendo's "Evil Eye" going forward.
This addon uses original NES sprites as a base for artwork (just like Pixel Remaster did with its sprites) and adds extra detail and colours to them to bring them up to the 32bit standard of the Pixel Remaster, matching the rest of the game in visuals.
Names of "Evil Eye" and "Death Eye" are also replaced by "Beholder" and "Death Beholder" just as in the original Japanese NES release.
This is only compatible with the above premodded package, don't use it on vanilla Pixel Remaster as it will create issues.

Below you.
I already went through all the pixel remasters earlier this year, I am afraid that's not hitting it for me
That's really neat!! I never really cared for oldschool JRPGs, but I'll give this mod a try.
Play Nioh 1 then focusing only on main story missions, you won't have enough time to 100% it.
No Steam no buy.
Original Amano artwork and JP NES sprites for those curious.
holy shit thanks a lot man, I've been meaning to play the first FF for a long time, but the original PC release had some ass ugly sprites, and I don't want to play the PSP version.
You're welcome. I'm working on premodded FF3 now.
Will do 2 later since I'm not particularly fond of that one.
Godspeed. Put to rest all the debates of "What version do I play?"
Won't be able to put FF3/4 debates to rest as the 3D remakes have some very major changes that can't be replicated with mods, but because of that they also play vastly differently and aren't replacements for originals.
My packages are meant to be go-to ones for first experience of each game.
the art style of the 3dmakes alone makes it impossible to even consider playing them
Just read the Henriad, bro.
Ehhh, I don't hate them personally, the gameplay has a lot of cool things going for it, especially 4.
The extra story elements are also pretty good, again, especially in 4. My only issue is that they're not faithful enough for first playthrough.
>any game discussion i don't like is marketing
Are you ok buddy?
