would you rather play a bad rough game that's interesting and innovative or a well designed perfectly polished game thats generic and risk-averse?

I need something interesting or I'll fall asleep or lose complete interest in playing. For example the gameplay in bravely default 2 was good but the generic story made me extremely bored and killed my motivation to play it.

it is genuinely hard to name games that do the latter. im sure people would mention Ubisoft games but I would argue they are not very well designed and they definitely aren't perfectly polished. maybe some bland jrpg fits that description

regardless, i will always prefer a game that captures my interest. i put many hours into ark because of this, despite the game actually being pretty horrible. no other games let me tame animals in that fashion though.

what the fuck does that even mean
if it's a good game then it's interesting
it can't be interesting and not good
if you think "it's good but it's just not interesting," then you need to stop and think about yourself for a second. you're trying to think "objectively" but you're retarded for trying to be a fucking critic. please live simply. if it's interesting to you, it's good. if it's not interesting, then why care about trying to judge it. are you trying to impress others with your deep thoughts and investigative critique on a work of art? retard

>perfectly polished game thats generic and risk-averse
sony games in general

you ask this as if we get much of either these days

play fromsoftware games

>perfectly polished
None of the Souls games fit that description, or even come close. That's not to say that they're not good games.

Neither. Make it interesting and polished or fuck off.

This.

Unironically something in between

do AAA game companies even have a designated team who's only job is to deal with porting the game to different platforms?

I haven't played Deadly Premonition or Horizon Zero Dawn. Guess which one interests me more.

I'm willing to put up with jank for something a little different. Probably why my JRPG tastes are the way they are.

I play jank and oddness almost exclusively at this point. Console FPS prior to dual analogue being standardised is a current favourite.

I've played games that had an interesting story or world, but the gameplay itself wasn't very good, so I think that would qualify

an interesting and well designed perfectly polished game

>would you rather play a bad rough game that's interesting and innovative
interesting is enough, I am so fucking thirsty for dopamine that I don't care about age genre or looks.
>well designed perfectly polished game thats generic and risk-averse?
I don't play games like that, why would I? I already played asscreed 2 back in the day and Far Cry 3, I have played enough of those.

I'm unironically the text in the OP.

I am willing to put up with so much bullshit and problems in a game if I think it's at least trying something interesting, sometimes the problems IS the thing that make the game interesting. Pathologic is a good example. Most popular games do nothing for me anymore.

just stop playing games then, it's like you had enough of eating normal food and just start eating avariated food and shit because you like to feel sick

Terrible analogy.
Seems like he got sick of eating oat meal and decided to try a bunch of foreign breakfasts (Haleem, Shakshuka, Cachapas).

>the jank is in universe

So you think foreign food is shit while your is perfect?

They usually hire a third party to port games to other platforms.
