Dead Space remake: Is SOVL back on the menu?

Like the vast majority of people, I had no fucking faith in this project at all. Dead Space 3 obliterated any good will I had left for EA after Mass effect 3, and Visceral getting killed off after Battlefield Hardline only solidified my position. I'll skip to the bottom line and say I still have major hang-ups and always will as long as EA's name is anywhere near the label. They're the ones who killed Dead Space with MTX, a shitty story, and all that other bullshit via their typical brand of corporate meddling, and as long as they're attached to the project, I will never have 100% faith in it.

That said... Holy shit, they may actually have the right people on the job

If you're not down to spend 50 minutes to watch the video, I'll give you a qrd.
>Sound occlusion and engineering has bene totally re-worked
>Sound clarity and volume changes not only with distance, but with doors, materials (bulkheads vs windows), etc.
>Weapon sounds have multiple layers for the parts moving, the shot firing, the projectile sizzling in the air
>Isaac's breathing and heartbeat are tied to multiple factors, including sprint, health, and oxygen
>Even his scripted dialogue is affected by all these
>Fully instrumental, orchestrated score. (Don't know if Jason Graves is back).

Basically, they're showing us a shit ton of details behind how they plan to make this game immersive. A lot of what we define as SOUL (when we're not just shitposting) lies in the details of a good game. think about how much more alive left 4 Dead feels compared to back 4 Blood: all the different zombie death animations, the way they lean when they turn mid-run, the music cues for the special infected, all small shit and grimy details that doesn't seem to matter until you play a game that doesn't have it. this game looks like it'll have it in spades. it's the most transparent I think any EA game development has ever been.

The only question remains: how will EA fuck it up?

shameless self bump

this sounds good, especially the hearbeat/breathing mechanic and the gore, though I'm not sure if having isaac speaking throught the game is necessarily a good thing, depends on the execution, I don't want isaac talking in my ear throught the whole game, I know it's more fitting with latter titles but that makes a big difference in atmosphere at least for me, also I think the fog in the gameplay shown is way too thick, could do with a bit more constraint and it would look pretty great but as it is it looks like they're trying too hard to make an atmosphere

I don't think they'll make him a total chatterbox. There were always opportunities that would make sense for him to speak in throughout the original, like coordinating with Kendra and Hammond. I don't think we'll hear Gunner any more than what would be reasonable.

You underestimate the power of shitters, mute Isaac best Isaac, by far. Him being somewhat sick in the head was part of the atmosphere, but that's waaaaay to complex for shitters that just want to hear gangsta shit.

They already said he won't speak unless spoken to, and if you replay DS1 right now there's like a dozen or more instances where a DS2 Isaac would have at least made a small comment on something because there's a lot of dead air as Nicole talks to herself or Kendra talks to herself.

i loved isaac because he was silent as a tree. not anymore.

I hate voice actors so much, just fuck off.

Isaac's character and voice delivery in DS2 is one of the best aspects of the game he's cool as fuck but still feels like a scared mind broken dude who just wants to go home

If you didn't like
>"FUCK YOU AND FUCK YOUR MARKER!
Then you have no soul.

That seems like the wrong thing to get mad at. It's bad writers you should be telling to fuck off. Not the fault of Aloy's VA that every line of dialogue in her game is boring, unentertaining milquetoast.

Silent MCs are garbage. You can have them react to things that happen around them so they're not being talked at constantly without making them narrate every thought they have.

The original Dead Space was good already. This remake is a cynical cash grab and nothing good will come from you giving EA any money.

'Course not, but will it be worth a pirate?

Having played the original I doubt I'll get it even if it ends up being good.

>EA
>the only company not shitting out remasters/remakes, etc in the era of remasters
>finally starts doing it
>actually putting some effort in
weird timeline

Has there bene a change in management? BF2042 was still a massive fuckup, but I wonder how much of that is on EA and DICE respectively.

Don't pretend like EA didn't greenlight this the moment the RE remake sold like hot cakes.
Still I hope it's good.

Not really. It's just Dead Space with some Isaac flavor dialogue.

The RE remake numbers are below of what EA normally expects from sales

I already know in my heart of hearts they are going to liberalize it.

>remake
>soul
no it's not you shill

What scenes from the first game do you think will be improved with Isaac having actual voice acting?
